£14m mkt cap this morning at 1.35p!

either overhang being cleared, rights issue on way or some structural bad news brewing

guessing it's the first of these , so picked up a few more...

They need to show a return soon to prove that they're viable & don't just drink cash.

I've been in on AGTA for nearly 3 years. Credit to the board to continually making long term investments. Positive to see it generating high growth in turnover. I'm very much looking forward to the business breaking even though!

I got in a few months back on this. Way too early, but have been adding to the position. The analysis in my earlier posts still stands. China needs Moz to be stable to grow into good supply countries.

I would expect to see them turn a profit within next 18 months however, otherwise the board wants sacking. Not balancing the books is not a sustainable business model, even if you're a tech co. :) Fields full of cows in Africa is far less appealing to the hype investor.

Corn over 500 US$ will be helpful for the margins on the grain business.

More likely Renamo causing trouble once again.

Count. I've also been considering what has been the cause behind the slide and my increased losses.

I couldn't see any negative news coverage about Renamo.

ZAMs decline is company specific to a significant degree because areas that were doing well have hit competition headwinds and areas that should be doing well to compensate (Pork & Beef/Shoprite concessions) have been hit by a mixture of disease and bad PR.

The only thing i can see to cause a fall that ties in with the recent decline from the 14th March 2014 is the Kariba Dam issue.

In a nutshell Zambia and Zimbabwe who jointly own the Kariba dam need $250m to make substantial repairs for "structural weaknesses" otherwise within 3 years the dam will fail releasing a 180bn tonnes of water. This amount of water would be enough to overwhelm the Cahora Bassa dam releasing a further 51bn tonnes.

This would devastating for the region and of course the torrent will flow through the Tete region in Mozambique. The fact that the area is at the southern end of the rift valley so an earthquake could shorten the 3 year timeframe is a little scary.

Zimbabwe doesn't have access to international funds but Zambia are much more likely to receive help.

It's one of those scare stories to kick politicians up the backside into action but it could be the reason for the fall?

The 5m trade at 1.58p was interesting, anyone got any ideas what that was, perhaps a role over?

You would have thought it would have knocked the share price back a bit....perhaps this is (one) of the reasons for the recent decline. Interesting to see whether the share bounces tomorrow/Friday

For the moment the company can still say it is in start-up mode but time is running out for that and we need to see some meaningful move towards profitability or at least a timetable to expect that. Then we can all moan about management and cut our losses if the timetable isn't met or raise a glass if it is.

I am bullish on looooong term prospects for African and South American agriculture but that doesn't mean I necessarily expect every company to succeed, especially if they can't ride out the near term. Perhaps the negative trading update from ZAM and resultant share price hit offers another opportunity?

First started buying these about three years ago with a ten year outlook, so still seven to go. I won't be adding and I'm now content to sit on them and see how it pans out and it's not not one of my bigger holdings anyway. I can't argue with the share price though - market knows best! GLA

more than that , they need to prove they won't need a rights issue in 12 months time . Company have themselves to blame for failing to provide clear guidance in the context of the cash burn . If it's not a problem , they should guide the market accordingly .....sadly the share price is saying it knows best.

The trend is down so tin hats time, thats what I think TDay. The company needs to prove it can make a profit, if/once they do the stock has the makings of a very exciting growth stock....however nobody wants to wait a year or 2 too 3 years, during the current markets, to wait to see how this pans out, hence the gradual decline in the stock.

But the sell off here has been going on for what seems like months. Worse than many other small caps. Nearly 10% down today with a number of large sells which I surmise are not PIs.

Anyway I'm out now.

Some commentary on LSE board about small stake taken in African Oilfield Logistics - a company related to the directors

Plus political situation in Mozambique but the news flow in this respect does not seem to be deteriorating

Plus of course lots of small caps weak at the moment suggesting the general skittishness of PIs and loss-taking prior to end of tax year
