24/2/2011 08:49 | In my opinion many shares have been performing strangely. We are in a period of great uncertainty and market makers seem to have been trading many shares in bands just to make a book, so to speak. AGK has always been a volatile share but as you rightly say it is surprising that it has fallen to this mark. However as we speak (1400p) we have reached a strong support level from which we usually bounce. You may recall that in the IMS it was feared that certain 2010 events would be missing from the 2011 trading platform and it may be that which has caused the drop. I would agree that with all the natural disasters in the world at present it would be surprising to think that AGK is not involved somewhere and I see no reason why figures for 2011 may once again be ahead of expectations. | peaeff
24/2/2011 08:24 | I find it very surprising that the share price is not only declining, but at a level first seen in or about April last year. Whilst the share price may have got ahead of itself, given the strong financial position of the Company and the niche area in which it operates, not to mention the numerous natural disasters that may have required emergency electricity and the odd upgrade, I would have expected the share price to have withstood the recent stock market weakness and even advanced, especially as the results are not far off. Can anyone shed some light on this? | jodi17qad

03/1/2011 12:39 | anyone know what presence Aggreko has in Aus ? Presumably it powered the Sydney Olympics so they must have something out there and at a guess, the Aussie's will need some power and/or pumps. | ccnp
22/12/2010 14:17 | Aggreko upgraded to buy from add at Seymour Pierce, target price stays 1775p. | eipgam

17/12/2010 14:00 | Good trading statement and I think a share price of aroung 1650p is warranted IMHO. | montyville2

01/11/2010 21:37 | I'll have a dig and let you know. Thanks! | naed
01/11/2010 10:01 | naed - Yep finding an actual black and white statement in a reg is always tricky I think a starting point is IEE regs BS7671 537 ISOLATION AND SWITCHING. There are lots of regs on neutral / earthing isolation plus Table 53.3 gives references to other BS documents. I think 551 refers more specifically to generators but TBH I am not sure that there's anything specific. Hope this is of help | thorpematt
31/10/2010 07:56 | Thanks Thorpematt, totally agree with your thoughts, just having a few issues enforcing this. i need now to find the specific regulation. Cheers | naed
28/10/2010 22:01 | Any slight words of caution in a management statement these days gives MM's carte blanche to frighten the sh.. out of any weak shareholders, not that there should be many here if performance is anything to go by. When they have dropped it to a level suitable for Institutions to fill their boots and satchels, I have no doubt £17 will be surpassed in the, not too distant, future. | peaeff
28/10/2010 21:16 | naed - I'm not sure if you would like reference/discussion on a specific reg. (I'd have to look that up) but I'll give my initial response as to the REASON why i would always regard this as good practice:- The short answer is that the fouth pole is to isolate the neutral. Longer? OK:- The neutral is effectively derrived from the star point @ 0 volts (a combination of the 3 phases). The neutral is also effectively the earthing point too. Whilst this may on the face of it appear therefore quite safe (it's grounded right?), there are certain conditions whereby this can't be guaranteed. Therefore complete isolation is the only guarantee that no electrical connection exists. Also any high voltage earth leakage from any source or even a short burst of fault currentcould also theoretically feedback down the neutral wire. Now there are further issues that relate to nuisance tripping where you have mulitple sources of power generation. These relate to fault currents taking alernate paths back to the star point and interfering with those said alternate sources - but TBH we are now getting very complicated and i am begining to bore myself... Does this help at all? | thorpematt
28/10/2010 19:30 | THORPEMATT Can you tell me the regulation regarding isolation? on a gen set, why would the LV breaker be 4 pole and not a 3 pole? | naed
28/10/2010 15:36 | I know, I just can't see any justification on such a drop. Surely the IMS was positive or was I reading a different one??? | g2am
28/10/2010 14:46 | Crikey - What happens if they lose a contract - will it go back up ? | flatoutfred
25/10/2010 16:36 | New contract win announced at the bell today... big contract in BanglaDesh won on the back of previous good work done for Bangladesh in the past. Tip top | eipgam |
