I think AGK is what they call 'tightly held'. The liquidity in the shares isn't great. The institutions are holding on or maybe increasing their stake ahead of the results? As you say Freddie, the results are due Thursday if they fall below expectations or use the 'challenging' word in the 2010 forecast, there'll be a bloodbath!

In saying that, the Ex Divi date is only a few weeks away so it might not drop as much as we think when news breaks and could gain a wee bit more right up to Ex Divi date.

Greed is a terrible illness !!

There must be somit afoot to make this climb like this. I came in today with the intention of selling, what with news due soon and perhaps an election but when it's like this I'm gonna have to let it run.

Anybody got any idea what causing this fantastic rise ?

Freddie

Great company for those still long (which I'm not I'm afraid!. Tell me why winning a share of a £30 million contract for the World Cup makes AGK worth an extra 4%? I think a lot of good news is expected on Thursday, hope it doesn't disappoint. No I'm not ramping, I think AGK is a great company, I live near Dunbarton and it is fanatastic AGK has kept all the asssembly jobs in the UK!

Blimey... this is going well now. Has anyone seen any brokers notes? Perhaps todays RNS will prompt a few?

Thanks Phil, probably taken a tally to see if they've met their "fleecing" targets.

Looks like your spot on Raf.

Whats the deal on ATH Epi ?

Looks like it's going to break £10 - I'm getting a stiffy !!

Happy Days,

Freddie.

Freddie,
You don't need to dream about 988p, just wait until 4/03/10 when the results are published.

Freddie, it happens on the 3rd Friday of the month. FTSE companies have a pause from trading at 11.00 or so, not really sure why to be honest, but it does crazy things to the share price for a while!

phil140158 - 5 Feb'10 - 12:40 - 321 of 324 : "CR, AGGK on an estimated EPS of 62p for this year gives a p/e of 17. I can only see estimates of 60p for next year giving a p/e of 18."

Am I missing something about the calulation of PERs? Current price of 912 divided by 62 = 14.7, and divided by 60 = 15.2

Not sure where the 17 and 18 numbers come from. Can someone please help me?

Strange - up 4% yesterday and tumbling back again today. What was that about? Maybe short sellers scrambling to get out following the two new contracts and results early next month?

Two good contracts this week have sent the share price on the rise again. AGK seems to be changing into a utility rather than an equipmemt hire business. Given the state of the economy maybe it's just as well.

as a follower, you will doubtless remmeber the days when p/e was 33. which looked optimistic beyond belief and a crash waiting to happen. the share price was around 300p in those far off days. revenues have grown not insubstantially

not knocking your logic or conclusions but agk has always been a fascinating beastie from day one. and since they bargain shopped GE, its pre eminent position seems solid with porters 5 forces model suggestsing it will remain strong

just so long as they don't annouce the writing of a company history or execute a share buy back, I for one am happy to hold

CR, AGGK on an estimated EPS of 62p for this year gives a p/e of 17. I can only see estimates of 60p for next year giving a p/e of 18. Like you, I think AGGK is a great Scottish company and it's a pity there are not more like them. With a yield of only 1.5% or so, the share price is a bit toppy just now. IMHO DYOR (No, I'm not short just a follower of AGGK looking for a chance to get back in again!)

Recen broker upgrades suggest these will post cracking results - expecting the year ahead forecasts to be raised too.

If they just manage 70p eps next year the PE is just 13 - low for such a class act.

Here's the last 5 years eps:

11.17p 13.31p 18.82p 28.9p 44p and 61p estimated for this year.

The rate of growth has been increasing - you'll stuggle to find that anywhere and to think they did it through the worst recession in living memory - imagine what a real erecovery will do for them.
