27/10/2021 10:01 | Apparently it's 12m shares, not 8 as above ^^. This is about 3.5% of shares outstanding, not surprisingly the share price as tumbled. I'd been looking for an excuse to get back into this one, looks like I have it now. The selling here is purely technical. Once the overhang clears, it'll go back above £30 you'd feel. | tabhair
27/10/2021 09:57 | Thanks for the info, as a relatively recent investor who is a bit under water I was feeling rather uneasy seeing them at the top of my loser board this morning. If they got a large chunk sold for 2940 that would suggest good demand. | salpara111
27/10/2021 09:13 | Apparently Munich Re.have disposed of a significant holding 8n a placing at 2940p. | cousin jack
27/10/2021 09:00 | Unclear what has caused the large drop at the open today....any ideas? | salpara111
27/10/2021 08:49 | 5.39% yield now with the dividend having increased progressively since 2005! | bountyhunter
03/10/2021 11:23 | I do often wonder on the motives of those making sell recommendations. Admiral strikes me as a well run financially strong company leading the sector with a progressive dividend record second to none. I would say it's a strong hold with shareholders having been rewarded with both an increasing dividend and share price year after year including throughout the pandemic. Car policy holders even got a £25 refund each last year which will I'm sure keep many loyal to Admiral who are competitively priced in any case. | bountyhunter
02/10/2021 22:28 | The article adds the following at the end. "However, AJ Bell, the fund shop, found that broker research, even taken in aggregate, needed to be treated with a degree of caution. At the start of 2020, it examined the stocks with the highest number of "buy" ratings by analysts. It found that one year later, the 10 most popular shares did far worse than the index. To compound that dismal showing, the 10 stocks with the greatest percentage of "sell" ratings actually generated a positive total return between them, even though the FTSE 100 failed to do so." | pj84
02/10/2021 20:12 | Unfortunately that is behind a paywall. It's not just Admiral that has dropped back, comparators have as well. Just a temporary adjustment following the preceding rally imv. I agree that it got a bit ahead of itself but this mains a well run company generating consistent shareholder returns with dividends increasing year on year for more than 15 years now, despite the pandemic. | bountyhunter
02/10/2021 10:46 | There's also this. "Admiral has the worst overall rating, the product of just three of the 19 analysts who cover the shares rating them a "buy". Eight are advising their clients to sell them, with the same number rating the shares a "hold". Analysts' average price target for the shares is 16pc below their current price." | freddie101
29/9/2021 09:50 | It just got ahead of itself - too swift a rise. | imastu pidgitaswell
29/9/2021 09:32 | Why the recent constant drop? | melmoo
02/9/2021 21:59 | It’s only a pity that Aviva don’t follow Admiral’s practice rather than waste shareholder’s funds on buybacks. If it was their own money, they would be more careful with it! | dh1706
02/9/2021 20:02 | Taking the Divi into account effectively ended the day +22p. Happy with that :) | bountyhunter
02/9/2021 15:50 | William Roberts Non-Executive Director/PDMR bought 5000*USD$50.0699 =$250,350 worth of Admiral ADRs on 31/8, quite a vote of confidence imv! | bountyhunter
02/9/2021 13:35 | not much in it, just about worth holding for the Divi based on the current price :) | bountyhunter
02/9/2021 08:32 | total interim dividend is 161.0 pence, made up of a normal dividend of 87.9 pence per share and a total special dividend of 73.1 pence per share. | rik shaw
02/9/2021 08:08 | Xd of about 110p of divi this morning so fall not as bad as it looks. | ygor705
11/8/2021 07:33 | Yes - half year earnings of 133p, full year earnings of, what, 270p? Still pretty cheap, yet ignored. Bit like CCC - just year in year year out pandemic-proof delivery, with no 'corporate fees' to 'advisers'. The City doesn't like that. | imastu pidgitaswell
11/8/2021 07:30 | Very strong numbers published this morning with a big increase in the dividend plus a special dividend plus the promise of more specials with each payment over the next year or so. The numbers are so strong that they will make for hard comparisons for next year and, on a quick glance, there is little in the statement about future prospects. Nevertheless, Admiral is a very well managed outfit and usually finds a way to keep things moving forward. | ygor705 |
