04/3/2019 08:21 | I've just topped up.. you seen this article in today's Times? bullish for our pellets: The owner of Britain’s biggest power station has admitted breaching environmental rules in the United States after one its wood pellet plants significantly exceeded air pollution limits. Drax has converted two thirds of its eponymous North Yorkshire power plant to burn “biomass” Drax hopes that switching to wood pellets will help it to qualify for renewable energy subsidies Drax hopes that switching to wood pellets will help it to qualify for renewable energy subsidies DRAX Drax has admitted that its Morehouse Bioenergy plant in Louisiana, which was opened in 2015 and produces about 500,000 tonnes of pellets each year, produces particulate emissions about four times higher than permitted. Will Gardiner, chief executive, said: “The emissions are higher than the permit would allow. We are working on how to solve that problem.” However, it has applied to the regulator to continue emitting higher pollution levels for up to a year, arguing that complying immediately would force it to significantly curtail its output and result in a “significant loss of direct jobs at the facility”, which employs more than 60 people. A spokeswoman for Drax, which last week reported annual pre-tax profits of £14 million, said: “We take environmental responsibilities very seriously and we are committed to reducing emissions and complying with all local and federal regulations.” | maccamcd
04/3/2019 08:17 | I agree - I think the market has been discounting the company going under and this goes a long way to reducing this risk. AEG has suffered from a loss of trust due to the continual delays. Once we have a Coalswitch plant up and running and producing revenue the opportunity should become the focus again and it looks like we are not far off this point. I am not overly concerned about the dilution as 100% of nothing is still nothing and this gets us off the ground. Coalswitch should be very cash generative so once things get moving AEG could have the firepower reduce the dilution by buying back a large chunk of shares if the price is still at the current discounted rate. Assuming this deal goes through I think we may have seen the lows in the share price. | bensug
04/3/2019 07:47 | Important news which, IMO substantially de-risks from where we were. If they pull this thing off I believe the market cap will be many multiples of where it closed out on Friday. If Poland news follows any time soon this could go from grubby to sweetheart very quickly. IMO. DYOR. G. | garth

05/2/2019 10:49 | Interesting extract on some detail of the permits within local and international trade contexts. Whole piece is worth reading (link below): "Byrne revealed the previous government was considering an arrangement where AEG would take over all of Holson’s debt, along with their aging stock of equipment. The government would forgive the debt of AEG if certain job milestones were reached. But Byrne says the problem with that arrangement is that the debt forgiveness would be perceived as a grant by the United States Department of Commerce, again subjecting the operation to US tariffs. According to Byrne, this left the province with only one method to help get the Holson sawmill back up and running. The current government decided to include conditions in the forestry permit for AEG, who is cutting small diameter wood for its wood pellets thus providing a market for that product, to also supply large diameter sawlogs to a local company like Holson or Coates’ Lumber in Main Brook." | garth
