wow ACTA are so successful maybe they will get taken over for $2m like Relion !

or maybe they will actually start selling some products rather than just placing for millions every year but generating revenues in the thousands

What is becoming clear with each news item from ACTA is that all of these companies: Ballard, PLUG, Relion, M-Field, Dantherm, APFCT, Heliocentris, Sunwise are keen to secure a commercial relationship with ACTA which offers them a unique and proven manner of generating the Hydrogen at the point of use and not be reliant on the bottled gas.

At present, the renewables link with Clean Power Solutions looks rather left-field but, they have already achieved more than I think most had anticipated. This sector is a little slow at present but, ACTA know the solar sector well enough and so I'm hoping they can start to build some other relationships in the renewables sector in coming months

this last RNS form ACTA should be considered, the CEO suggested, in tandem with the Ballard newspiece at end of June & also some understanding as to the Ballard/Plug relationship and how that dynamic is going to change in 2015 now that Plug has bought Relion:

Vancouver, Canada – Ballard Power Systems (NASDAQ: BLDP)(TSX: BLD) today announced that it has signed a definitive agreement for the sub-license of intellectual property (IP) to M-Field Energy Corporation ("M-Field"), a sustainable energy company, for material handling systems to be deployed in Europe. Ballard will also provide M-Field with Engineering Services support into early-2015 through Dantherm Power A/S, the Company's subsidiary in Denmark, to assist in optimizing system integration activities utilizing Ballard fuel cell stacks. The agreement has a value of approximately $1 million.

Steve Karaffa, Ballard's Chief Commercial Officer said, "This deal furthers our three-level business model, by leveraging Engineering Services and applicable IP in order to support the penetration of fuel cell products in a variety of geographic markets."

H2 Logic A/S, a leading European manufacturer of hydrogen refueling stations and fuel cell systems for applications such as forklift trucks and tow tractors, has made a strategic decision to narrow its business focus to hydrogen refueling stations. Ballard has acquired the material handling intellectual property portfolio of H2 Logic A/S and is sub-licensing this IP to M-Field under the agreement announced today.

Also under the agreement, Ballard will be the exclusive supplier of fuel cell stacks – including the FCgenTM-1020ACS air-cooled and FCvelocityTM-9SSL liquid-cooled stack products – for all material handling systems deployed by M-Field in Europe.

Interest in fuel cell-powered forklift trucks for use in high-throughput indoor distribution centers and warehouses is the result of financial benefits associated with increased productivity and lower operating costs, compared to incumbent lead acid battery-powered trucks. Fuel cell systems are also a zero-emission, clean energy alternative that eliminates costs associated with handling and storing toxic materials, such as lead acid batteries.

Will Plug Power's New Fuel Cells Change Ballard Power Systems' Future Growth?

We're about to enter a new period for fuel cell manufacturer Ballard Power Systems (NASDAQ: BLDP ) , both for good and bad. The good thing is that the comapny expects to break even on an EBITDA basis this year for the first time ever. The bad news is that one of its largest clients, Plug Power (NASDAQ: PLUG ) , will start to manufacture its own fuel cells. With so much news surrounding this industry lately, it can be difficult to get a feel for how to value these companies over the long term. So let's do a little sales growth forecasting to determine what we can expect from Ballard over the next several years to come.

Who are we talking about here?
For the past several years, Plug Power and Ballard have been tied at the hip. All of Plug Power's fuel cell systems built to replace traditional batteries in equipment such as forklifts have used Ballard's fuel cell stacks as part of an exclusive supplier agreement. This symbiotic relationship will not be as great as it was before, though, because Plug Power just purchased fuel cell stack manufacturer ReliOn for $4 million in stock. At the end of 2014, Plug and Ballard's exclusivity agreement will come to an end, and it's likely that Plug will start to use RleiOn's fuel cell stacks in its fuel cell systems.

But Ballard's business goes beyond just its deal with Plug Power -- it is diversifying into several other possible uses for fuel cells as well. The company has already made some modest inroads with the Telecom industry as a power supplier for emergency backup power for cellular towers. In 2013, the company's product sales in this part of the business grew by 74% to over $20 million annually. Also, Ballard signed a four-year service contract with Volkswagen in 2013 estimated at $55 million-$90 million. Both Ballard and Volkswagen are looking to develop fuel cell technology into vehicles. With Toyota looking to ship its first fuel cell vehicles to the Los Angeles market in 2015, the possibility of using hydrogen fuel cells in vehicles are looking more possible by the day, even though there are still several hurdles it will face along the way.

Clean Power Solutions Power Their Way To the Future.

"For larger installations, the system can be adapted to use the excess power produced to create Hydrogen, which can be used, after a low cost conversion, as vehicle fuel in existing tractors, vans and other internal combustion engines"
