OK translate this please...............

What a smashing bridge - amazing it's a softwood so little weight! Compare with steel or concrete and it looks so much better.

Fryern - if the laminated wood sections were any chunkier (some 40"x25") they'd almost be carving bridges out of the solid :-o

Seems ridiculously hefty.. practically a whole forest in that

PS: In case anyone thinks the fluid used is something other than condensed vinegar.. see

;o)

Basically softwood pickled in vinegar ;-o

I recall handling samples over 30 years ago during an industry seminar at Aston University in Birmingham. Interesting that it's taken several decades more for someone to bring it to market - and to have found a more scientific-sounding description!

One day, maybe, advfn will get its head around how to display capitalisation figures. But I doubt it :-o
(figure differs between advfn data pages, with decimal places varying)

What is capitalisation please, in sterling, when price is say 2 euro?

Makes wood better than Steel and concrete

LONDON (AFX) - Accsys Technologies PLC said its Titan Wood unit has won an order from the Dutch government for approximately 1,200 m3 of its Accoya wood product.

The wood will be used as the main construction material for two heavy traffic road bridges due for completion by 2009.

Accoya is made using Titan Wood's proprietary process for the acetylation of wood, which protects wood from rot without making it toxic.

Eddie Pratt, Chief Executive of Accsys, said: "This represents a real landmark for Accsys as Accoya will be the first ever modified wood used for heavy traffic bridges, replacing materials such as steel and concrete... We fully expect interest in structural uses of Accoya to grow rapidly."

Pratt added the company was in discussions with the government of Chile over a "substantial" bridge-building program. newsdesk@afxnews.com tc

The RNS may not have done the share price a lot of good but it certainly has done the prospects for the company a huge amount of good.

See full statement above, here are the guts..... onwards & it seems, upwards.

AIM: AXS Accsys Develops New Business with Wooden Bridges Contract from Dutch Government Accsys Technologies PLC ("Accsys" or "the Company") announces that its 100% owned subsidiary, Titan Wood (www.titanwood.com) has secured a sizeable order for AccoyaTM from the Dutch government in the Province of Friesland. Approximately 1,200 m3 of AccoyaTM wood (www.accoya.info) will be used as the main construction material for two unique heavy traffic road bridges across the A7 at the city of Sneek. The contract is a further boost for Titan Wood's new 30,000 m3 production facility in the Netherlands. Sneek's prestigious new bridges, each measuring twenty metres high by forty metres long, are due for completion by 2009. They mark a breakthrough in the use of durable modified wood in heavy traffic road bridge construction and will be the first of their kind in the world.
