Innergex closes EUR-130m stake sale in French renewables portfolio


Canada’s Innergex Renewable Energy Inc (TSE:INE) said on Thursday it has wrapped up the minority stake sale in its renewables portfolio in France to insurer Credit Agricole Assurance, getting an investment of EUR 129.5 million (USD 136.5m).

France-based Credit Agricole Assurance has purchased a 30% interest in the Canadian group’s French platform, as agreed in the summer. The specific platform includes 17 operational assets totalling 324 MW of wind power and 9 MW/9 MWh of storage capacity and a set of projects in various stages of development.

The enterprise value of Innergex France is estimated at EUR 715.2 million, including EUR 22.2 million of cash on hand.

Innergex will use funds from the divestment to reduce its revolving credit facilities and finance the development activities over the coming years. The renewables developer-operator said that the long-term partnership with Credit Agricole Assurances will provide synergies and ensure support for its ongoing development projects.

“This operation will also contribute to Crédit Agricole Assurances’ objectives to increase its investments in renewable energies and reach a 14 GW installed capacity by 2025,” said Philippe Dumont, CEO of Credit Agricole Assurances.
