Is there anybody out there with a good word to say about this sickly pup?
If there is, I'd like to hear the good word.
Maybe John Lee might care to put in a good word? I've noticed that his references to Abbeycrest seem to be drying up in his FT columns.
Perhaps he's already sold out?

When John Lee first tipped these King Dog shares, I believe that they were over £1, and that was probably over 2 years ago. I do not think we've seen £1 in the last two years. I guess John Lee must be a long term investor in this share. And we're all long term investors when a short term investment goes bad.
I'd be interested to hear John Lee's views on this management. He's had time to get to know them, and hear their explanations of how they nearly wiped out a solid company, which was making £4-£6m profit, and paying dividends of 6p a share.

The only comment I can make about this is that John Lee of the FT still holds it in his portfolio, despite the loss--and he usually manages to squeeze value out of a company even though drying paint springs to mind.He does , however, get to know a company and management rather better than the rest of us.

Surely, there can not be another profit-warning in the nezt statement?
Anybody out there with any opinions?

Have to confess to having baled out of this stock.

Xmas Trading is uncertain....Goldsmiths doing well with
higher priced items such as Tag,Rolex...gold jewellery
not so well.

Hard one to call but I'll sit and await developments and
maybe re-enter at a later date.

Good luck to all that remain holders.

one thing is for sure...John Lee likes to know the company, and that includes top to bottom line

contrarian...I don't think Signet and Fennell's are rivals..they are
retailers and Abbeycrest are a distributor/manufacturer which sells to
retailers including Asda.

I remember the FT article zitaron mentions....remember John Lee giving
a glowing write-up after (I think) visiting the firm and saying Buy at
about £1.00

I was put off at the time by the poor cash flow and high stock figure.

The Interims saw progress, but disappointingly slow...I hold for now and
will see how the story develops.

Zitaron - You are right about John Lee, he got me into BCS and TCSC in 1998 and I've held them ever since. ACR hopefully won't turn out to be on his rare duds. Could luck to you ZITARON and all other current holders. C2I

contrarian2I, yes..there are ?marks..how they ended up with the surplus in the first place?..what kind of stock was it(nothing is more unfashionable than last year's shell suit)...why only tapping US now...what competition in same U.S ( I used to be in some jewellery stock there some years ago, began with a 'Z',turned around eventually, but reminds me of A/crest,except they had their own retail).
On a positive note,I mind that John Lee in the FT has kept A/crest in his portfolio for a long time now, even though it must be showing 40%(guesstimate from memory )loss over purchase price--and he is a canny enough old dog where value is to be sniffed out. My inclination in this is to retain my position, but to wait a while yet before consolidating,as I sense a fall in investor confidence here, which will only be soothed by positive news---which was only lukewarm in the release. That said, definitely one for the watch list, and at these prices(lower?) worth a weekly look and a news alert.

zitron, I have watched this share for over a year now and still can't make my mind up. The re-introduction the dividend looks very good, so does the reduction of surplus. However other rivals such as Signet and Theo Fenell seem to be doing much better. Why is that? The market and share seems to be indicating a retracement to low 50's. Which is when I will be more at ease to purchase.C2I

well, the statement wasn't bullish...but with Thailand now on stream, the stock surplus largely sorted, the re-emphasis on the States.and divi announcement...at this price I smell undervalued assets...anyone any thoughts?

An Interim dividend of 1p per share will be paid on 9 January 2004 to shareholders
on the register at the close of business on 12 December 2003.

One of Shares mag's Plays of the Week today.

The FD expected to give a bullish statement with the
results, and commercial partnership possibilities with
16% holder and large scale diamond trader Danny Fiszman.

His company is one of the worlds biggest diamond traders.

......well they look juicy to me !
Results imminent.
As you point out, a barometer could be Signet reporting well recently.
High Street spending seems OK, so demand from the retailers should have mirrored that.

I would expect these tightly held honeys to motor if, as expected, results are even remotely good.
