The hit of 10% would be dating back to 16/17th September the absolute worst possible outcomes for any bookie with football, every bookie took huge losses those two days.I work for a bookie that is significantly larger than 888 and the two days loss was the worst two day loss in the companies history.Q4 sports wise has been very strong so far but anything can happen.

Agreed. I haven't sold any, but this has to break that 4th-wave low before marching higher.

When the appeal comes ASA may get in some trouble. Like with GC racing post about the White Paper. I think they beginning to understand the industry of gambling keeps other industries going as one of the Lords said.

Industry of Horse Racing, Motorsport, TV, advertising agencies etc. They all linked GC and ASA were criticized in the Lords for not knowing what they doing. There were calls for both GC and ASA to be made accountable at a committee in the commons.

The question would be

How can you assume your decisions will not impact other industries?

Do you know how many people are employed across the board related to gambling?

Do you understand the complexity of how certain industries are operated?

I would love to see them answer those.

ASA are clearly thick, biased and overstaffed if they have time to both investigate and come to the wrong conclusion that Gary Neville has strong appeal to under 18,s without a solitary complaint. Severe lack of sound judgementWhoever signed this off should be fired

Looking back at today in a years time I believe Per will have laid some sound "foundations" for the Company. - meaning todays price is the bottom out ??.

The shorters are currently doing their bit "DIGGING DEEP into the share price" little do they know they will soon be wearing concrete overcoats doing their bit to "support" the company as the foundations are finally finished.

We are in a new world of betting (Non stealing from your company to bet etc and Kebabs are off the menu)- sOME OF US HAVE READ THE DEBATES ON BETTING IN THE hOUSE OF lORDS ...
adverts have copied the Paddy Powerless - be one of the boys adverts
Hills are continually giving £2 bets away free in newspapers to tempt newbies

The public are CONTINUALLY being educated to bet on ridiculously high margin profit occurrences in a single match like how many times will a player scratch his crutch in the first half.

The general public have no idea of the maths of betting and a lot don't want to win

mEANWHILE TO MAKE SURE YOUR BETTING ACCOUNTS ARE NOT CLOSED DUE TO INACTIVITY SIMPLY PLACE A £1 BET ON SOME EVENT WELL INTO THE FUTURE BE IT WORLD CUP NEXT LABOUR LEADER ETC

Let's understand balderick1 seems to have a tendency to overstate certain statements which he has repeated a few times and nothing has come to pass.Ignore this type of written word to the dustbin.

Write facts not fiction.

Qué reduced position.Bring the score down 1,38,on the short over all.

Probably see some buys from board coming month

Key for 888 is continued execution on the synergies.

The company will enter 2024 with a much lower run-rate cost base than it entered 2023 so we'll see a big uplift in profits next year. But continued hammering down on those costs is fundamental to the story

Blackhorse23,

By all means have a negative outlook on 888, but learn to read first. From today's RNS:

'Group: performance in line with 28(th) September 2023 trading update with revenue of GBP405.0m, down 10% year on year.'

Not 10% down one quarter.

As someone said above, nothing massively exciting in there.

Main thing is that synergy achievement remains on track

Todays update gives less information than the update on the 28th Sept, but in itself is OK with nothing to get excited/worried about.

Makinbuks,

I dont think there's a chance that they'll lower 2025 expectations and, given the impact of synergies on the bottom line over the next 2 years, this years earnings are somewhat irrelevant.

Regarding 2023 guidance, when they trimmed the margin guidance from 20% to 18%-19% they did so in the knowledge of what 9 of the 12 months this year already looked like as well as the synergies coming through. Therefore I'd be very surprised if that is amended further.

Moving to oneillshaun's post, I think thats right and particularly if they started to guide to 2024. I doubt they'll guide to 2024 this quarter though - perhaps at the end of yr update.

P.S. I'm never sure whether its 'ONeill Shaun', or 'One Ill Shaun'...

Adam
