03/2/2016 15:18 | That's why stop losses work. They do protect you when prices tank like it has recently. Irrespective how strong the fundamental case may be (as I have explained on this board at length, it undoubtedly is for 888), if the trend is not your friend then forget about it. Unless there is a sustainable bullish catalyst (wig the Fed bringing back QE / introduce -ve rates in the US) for the broader equity market, it's probably best to avoid 888 all together. When the whole stock market goes down it does not discriminate between good and bad companies. Good luck all | tongosti
29/1/2016 17:30 | You should think a bit more before you write. It's called playing the fundamental case if only if momentum is on your side. Buy higher and higher only with tight stop losses in place. When the trend breaks down I get out. It's called having a plan to get out before you get in. Apparently you are happy to hold all the way down to zero as you may be the British version of Warren Buffett. I am not and I don't like mistakes very much. Soros / Druckenmiller / Paul Tudor Jones - do this names mean anything to you? Good luck | tongosti
29/1/2016 16:19 | TongostiInteresting post.So your strategy is to sell low and buy high. There are a few around who follow that technique but usually don't admit it. | cheshiremoggie
29/1/2016 15:18 | As I mentioned a few days back my stop loss got me out at 169p and will not come back in unless we break the 190 level. Good weekend all | tongosti
29/1/2016 15:17 | Stock selling off strongly on a good day for the markets. Looks suspicious and I must admit I don't need like relative strength evaporating. | tongosti
28/1/2016 03:32 | Cheers Davie should help the price increase as trackers will now buy the shares. | jamesjoel
27/1/2016 22:54 | bit of news !! | davieday2
20/1/2016 13:09 | My stop loss just got me out. Will keep looking at 888 like a hawk though. Will only get in if the price action reverses | tongosti
14/1/2016 22:30 | I read this in The Telegraph's iPhone app and thought you'd like to read it: | frankiethecabbie
14/1/2016 14:24 | No reason for the fall and we know the results are going to be good maybe with William Hill posting a good trading statement today and with no mention of acquisitions the MMs have decided to mark it down | frankiethecabbie
14/1/2016 14:02 | Don't like the price action as of late. If it goes below 169 my guaranteed stop loss ability will get me out completely. Hopefully, it won't go that low | tongosti

27/12/2015 01:29 | Missed this from 11/12/2015 Shares mag via alliance trust 888 spins M&A wheel Gambling operator eyes acquisition targets amid earnings upgrade Emily Perryman Online gambling group 888 (888) is well-positioned to consolidate the market through mergers and acquisitions following a strong second half for the £610 million cap. 888 lost out on its bid for Bwin.Party (BPTY) to its smaller rival GVC (GVC:AIM) in September, but says it is continuing to focus on a small number of possible targets. The group already has competitive advantages says its own proprietary technology and a limited reliance on third party suppliers. This means it can offer unique products, bring them to market quickly and sidestep the platform capacity constraints that affect other gambling companies. 888 says EBITDA (earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation) for the year ending 31 December 2015 will be at the top end of analysts’ expectations, namely $78 million, due to strong trading in its casino and sports businesses. Full year EBITDA will still be 22.5% lower year-on-year due to the impact of the Point of Consumption tax. As well as being a consolidator, 888 could be a bid target for bookmaker William Hill (WMH). The £3.2 billion cap, which tried to buy 888 earlier this year, is set to lose market share following the announced mergers of Ladbrokes (LAD) with Gala Coral and Paddy Power (PAP) with Betfair (BET). Shares says: "Buy 888 at 179.5p as acquisitions and bid speculation add to an already attractive investment case. It has a strong forward dividend yield of 5.6% and is expanding in new markets which should drive long-term growth." | jamesjoel |
