I think perhaps it is a question of terminology? ''Kill the well'' against ''suspend the well''

I perhaps see 'kill the well'' as a description of the well being plugged and abandoned. As, opposed to being ''suspended'', pending a horizontal drill.

I suspect we will have the answer by mid September

spooks you are right, just some numptys on this site and on LSE think you can do what you want in o&g...if 88e leave this site they will have to kill the well and that means pumping down mud, you cant get away from it, you need a good track record when dealing with the state..but the USA H&S will want a safety case if you bring prod equip,on site this is not a prod well its a test well, all is good even if its not flowing its still good, some times a well wont flow on monday come friday u have 1000psi looking at you, doing horizontal well its easy to do,just come back with the rig cut a hole in the csg and away you go, but i think 88e are just looking for the 50-150bopd and will move on, then they have to temp kill the well...will do ice3 or come back and do the horizontal ice2..in the spring. i wish they never change it in the first place cos i think the share price would be in the 5/6p range and could do a placing.and as you say lets see what the next RNS brings

I think you will find that AE has a very good track record of compliance with State in regards to environmental clean up and best practice. The guys on the ground led by Eric are local and know what is required and how to get it done. I recall in 2015 that the SOA was impressed enough with the details provided by AE in the permitting process for icewine 1, that they have used the submissions as a template for all future applications for the North slope.

Their track record thus far is enviable and I believe a source of confidence.

Back to the subject of MUD. I am taken with your idea that mud maybe a temporary plus if they do a rapid follow up for a Horizontal well. The permits for which have already been approved as part of the permitting for Ice 2.

Anyway the next RNS may give a further clue as to what they are thinking. For those who are expecting a full blow by blow forward plan, you may find at this time such a plan may be found wanting.

At this moment in time ice2 will be hooked up to a test spread run by Halliburton or schlumberger...and will consist of chicksan iron, anaconda,NTR v/v, flow meters,lo-torqu v/v and a few chokes ...and a big tank called a batch tank with measurements of say 10x8x6...all the lines and equip will be press tested to about 5k psi or the bar rate 14.7 pis = 1 bar...you open up the well in a controlled manner hold back press...and flow the well if you start with a shut in press of say 500psi and flow for 15mins into the batch tank..close in well and watch the gauges go back up to 500psi...that is a good sign..you can now wait 1hr and open up the well again for 15mins and close back in after 15mins..you want to see 500psi back on the gauges do 2 more times..you now have flow rate of gallons per hr x that by 24 you now have a flow rate of a day...if after i hr your tank has 5 bbls init then thats x by 24..24hr in a day that 120 bopd, they will do this for a few days making sure you are not just bleeding off..but the well is flowing...

Fine tuning to me is having a long hard look at what's going on 2 miles under the ground if it's not flowing?. Fine tuning to me is asking Api and APls wee brother the USA H&S can we do this. You can't just do things in o/g, the first thing you need to do is write a program for drilling and send it to them, now if you want to fine fune like bring prod plant you need to ask them. They will ask for your Policey in this, what do you have in places, have you done this before do you have risk assessment in place to run test separation equipment, flare gas, the list goes on and onWe only want to know if it flows 50-150bbls a day easy that's it.The mud is kill mud for after you are finished on ice 2. Might not be on site, as mud needs to be aggregate or in will split and won't be any good HH permits could mean that the coil spread is coming back( to pump, can't pump it any other way, the mud) just can't see them hooking up, production plant to see if it flows that small amount. Only if it's a elephant.. But not on the vertical side

Don't know what you lot are on, it does seem it makes you shut you ears and eyes, what I've said alla long is once you finish the well testing, that's it, work done go and drill another one... API won't let you leave a live well, 88e will have to shut off the formation pressure getting into the well, hence mud, it's not the end of the well, take the mud back out and it's live. APl. . America petroleum instestute will tell 88e how to leave this well, pump mud, come up the well pump cmt plug number 1. It will be well away from the perfs ( we're the oil/gas /vapour) comes in. You don't want any cmt = cement near the perfs so if you don't put mud in the hole from TD to below the 1st cmt plug will still be live and I just don't think ApI will be happy at all.If you don't leave ice2 in a safe environment and according to rules and regulations from APl, you will never drill on the north slopes again u will get a big fine.( deep water horizon) So don't worry about kill mud it's part of drilling, killing a well is part a parcel put mud in dead take mud out alive.

Spooks what's wrong with killing the well, it's fine it you don't have mud in the well the distance between the btm cmt plug and the open formation will be live, Api wont go for that (under the first plug live,) u need the whole well dead... Then put in the balance cmt plugs and the mechanism rtts storm valve in the 9 5/8csg...its all good

ronjo, still being naughty regarding the use of mud. We both know they use metal plugs and cement for that.

Anyway all else is guess work until the next RNS

I think the above 2 desperate posters are having one last go at talking the price down before the expected company changing news next week, pity them both, they can hardly string a sentence together in any meaningful way.
