I'll try and sit on my hands for the rest of this year, and be a bit more chilled next year. With that in mind......Happy Christmas to all. Keep the great posts re 3i coming in 2024, it's good to share the knowledge and encouragement. Gla. :)

Indeed, we could see 23 v soon. To reach this, many more new institutions are buying 3i, demand is high for the shares. As I've always said, this is growth, value, income, pe all in one stock.

Well done - I sold out of these way too early and slightly kicking myself. It was around the same time the IC put out a sell recommendation (I have to stress my decision to sell was purely coincidental and I would never follow what the IC say!).

Well I'm glad I cancelled my sell order. I think I need to lay off the coffee and just relax. What is it someone said....let your winners run? 23 by Christmas looks right.

3i Group (III) is set to receive a boost from its stake in Dutch discount retail chain Action, increasing JOHCM manager Alex Savvides’ conviction in the asset manager.

The investment company is the top holding in Savvides’ JOHCM UK Dynamic fund, making up 6.8% of the £1.2bn portfolio.

In his most recent fund update, Savvides said 3i Group had ‘a minor pullback’ during October but still remained ‘strongly positive for the year’.

He focused on 3i’s largest investment, Action, which makes up more than 60% of 3i’s assets and helped push the private equity giant past £20bn for the first time.

‘Moody’s [Investors Service] announced underlying asset Action’s intention to issue a $1bn term loan, which will fund capital returns to shareholders, implying an increase in dividends to be received by majority owner 3i,’ said Savvides. ‘We maintain conviction in the position.’

Shares in 3i were trading at £22.46 on Monday.

The business model would not seem very difficult to replicate, at some point it will inevitably peak but trying to win on the timing game is always very difficult.

After a bit of research this morning I cancelled my limit sell order on 3i. Back in Sept I'd suggested 23 by Christmas, after that I sat down and thought it would be a good time to sell. I've changed my mind and I'm going to keep hold!

Bizarre share price reaction early today, decent results but share price down 3%. Sense has returned nowGenerally positive performance, some trimming of EBITDA valuation multiples and some modest performance in Infrastructure. Any hint of interest rate easing should see this share price rise.

Against a tough macroeconomic environment, we delivered another good result in the period for 3i. Action continues to perform very well. Its LFL sales growth, continued new store expansion and significant free cash flow from operations have once again underlined what an exceptional business it is. The strong performance of a number of our other investments in the value-for-money, private label and healthcare sectors underpins our confidence that a number of these investments will also become longer-term compounders over time.

Yep, Borrows is pure bred private equity corporate financier and will look to ensure he maximises the cash return from Action without compromising its growth.

Looks like capacity for substantial refinancing of Action and material dividend payment. 50% increase in EBITDA!
