03/2/2004 22:44 | Pretty aggresive fall today by anyone's standards. Thought it was well oversold when it fell by 5% on the day. Was down 7.5% at one point. Was looking to get in on a bounce this evening but it fell like a lead ballon. Any thought's on tomorrow anyone? Where the hell is the support for this one? $45 or $39 | ![]() pirc

08/6/2003 23:31 | energyi - "what uptrend?" Are you serious? :-) I'm referring to the one since Oct 2002 on the daily chart. | march
08/6/2003 12:53 | OKay. Like most TRENDS, it depends on the tim, eframe you choose. Look at the 2 day and 5 day charts. The Daily Uptrend may be in the midst of a Reversal, along with the overall market. And this stock is WAY OVERVALUED imo | energyi
08/6/2003 08:43 | Now you see it, now you dont. What uptrend? | energyi

06/6/2003 17:01 | energyi - not emotionally involved are you ? :-) I suspect it will take more than one day to bust this uptrend. | march

30/5/2003 07:25 | The "HHH" basket of Internet has soared a breathtaking 107% from its Oct. 7 bear market low. Internet stocks - short ideas EBAY is a greater fools paradise. The stock went over $103 today and is up over 100% from the lows. The stock is trading at 75 times 2003 pro-forma earning estimates. What is even more amazing, the stock is approaching its $120 bubble high of 1999 and 2000. Both times it seen a sharp sell off from those highs. I would guess, three strikes and it will be down and out for good. Yahoo, YHOO has moved up from under $10 to $30, a 200% gain but is selling for almost 90 times 2003 pro-forma earnings projections. Amazon, AMZN has gone from $12.26 to $35 or a 185% gain. It is about 100 times projected 2003 pro forma earnings. It is the most over valued, GAAP earnings this past year would only be 0.10 to 0.15 P/Es averages about 90 on 2003 projected earnings, taking stock options as a cost, Yahoo and Amazon would have operated at a loss last year and eBay would have earned 0.23 instead of 0.87. These are all great stocks to short or buy Puts, it is only a matter of timing to try and pick the peak or waiting until the down hill slide begins. I would say eBay would be a great bet if it gets over $115. I would look at October Puts, about $10 below strike, currently the $90 Oct. Put is about $4.50. Aside from eBay hitting a triple top, it has been the best net stock and Yahoo has the strongest balance sheet, so Amazon looks like possibly the best short. I would look at the October $30 Put around $2.00. The candle stick chart is also showing a possible reversal signal, depending how Thursday's trading goes I could see high multiples for a high growth market sector, but as I have discussed in the past, the growth days are over for the internet. In fact the internet is not growing in the U.S. at all, a recent study reports that consumers are leaving the net at about the same rate new ones are signing up. from: Jeremy Grantham of GMO Advisors | energyi

27/5/2003 22:24 | maybe terminal, maybe not .... to many short losses for me on this firecracker. I shall wait till trending down before shorting again .... no more attempts to call the top for me. it could march up to $100 again. anything is possible in a fed supported short squeeze. till we get a reversal, the top internet stocks are going to be must haves for any mug punters POSfolio. | random

27/5/2003 16:38 | ODD RALLY ... may be terminal for AMZN | energyi
24/5/2003 19:21 | Better than shorting medium term seems to be a hedged pair trading strategy. Amzn might make a good short, if balancing say a yhoo or vrsn short. I will switch to this strategy if it seems there is more upside left in the market. A risk/reward analysis indicated the above strategy. I have noticed that the lower the $ price of a tech stock, the bigger the %change in this rally. It is all momentum. A stock will move, say 100pts, regardless of its initial price. Thus vrsn/ebay was a fantastic trade, even with ebay a debt free tower of power. from Spot on analysis of why it is dangerous to short this firecracker alone. dated 5th may, but still relevant. -------------------- Lastly, here is a list of shares that can continue to be upside momentum plays.....these stocks were some of the first to make new highs on the year, and there is little overhead supply. Even though they may appear to be overextended, they should be well bid on pullbacks, and many have entered "runaway" mode: In runaway mode, a trader can either look to buy after one down day, and aggressive traders can also buy new highs: ABGX                GRMN ADBE                AMZN                MLNM CECO                SFA CKFR                CTXS                VRTS CY                  CYTC Linda | random
23/5/2003 11:55 | Crikey. Suspicious or what. | ![]() mart
23/5/2003 11:50 | Did not follow my own advice, and paid the price. Covered in the first dip, but shorted again too early, capturing much of the squeeze. Because it is a failed trade, I am carefully working out how to try to avoid this in the future. Fortunately the loss was small compared to long gains today, for which it is a hedge. Technique can keep me out of such speculative trades in the future. During the pop up a sequence of trades occured that I have only just noticed. It is one of the strangest patterns I have ever seen. Almost surely programme trading, but the zero spread is strange. It looks like someone trading with themselves to create apparent volume in order to justify a markup. Viewed on a chart the action looks very bullish. Viewed as trades it seems like a clever manipulation. Perhaps it is delta hedging by call writers? Most strangely there is not a single "ordinary" trade in the whole sequence. Without these odd transactions, the volume would have been insipid. Also, analysis of the days trades shows a clear pattern towards the end of day. Almost every larger trade is a sell. My own gut feeling is that the following trades are a smoking gun, the pump stage of institutional pump and dump. Either that, or the feed crashed ... date time trade bid offer volume 05/22/03 18:17:07 32.56 32.56 32.56 0 05/22/03 18:16:52 32.58 32.58 32.58 962 05/22/03 18:16:37 32.51 32.51 32.51 963 05/22/03 22/5/2003 11:14 | I remember the old days when a guy on silicon.com lost $1m shorting AMZN. I've always thought we'd know the dot com bubble was over when AMZN went. They are so well supported institutionally that anyone who outlives them must have a real business and will survive. | ![]() sbs |
