23/1/2013 10:23 | Yump... tell me if ive found the USA contract amount mate will you look on page 11. Its big bucks if i have, i can not paste it for some reason. Its the US Census Bureaus Budget Estimates two hundred and odd pages worth. | 412069
23/1/2013 10:00 | Keep hunting Yump, they will poop up at some time. RE: key people they will be able to name there price nevermind be on any recruitment firms books. | 412069
22/1/2013 20:52 | I hope SPA are getting their hands on key people before there's a rush. I wonder who the main beneficiaries of the recruitment drive will be ? Specialist recruitment firms I guess. I've been hunting for contract / tender values for anything to do with big data / geospatial in various government departments, Brazil and Australia included and still haven't found any hints on contract values so far. | yump
22/1/2013 16:41 | Its creating jobs anyway. | 412069
22/1/2013 15:48 | Yump This says it all for me from the horses mouth. And this is only one contract nevermind the others. Contract win 1Spatial, the Spatial Big Data Company, which manages the world's largest spatial data, announces the sale of software licenses, related support, maintenance and services to a Brazilian Government Body. The board believes that this contract is likely to have a positive impact on the group's results | 412069
22/1/2013 10:12 | Its worth adding that revenue is of course no good if it never leads to earnings, which happens in construction sometimes. However, this is software services and in a niche as well, so at the slightest sign of clean profits coming through, I think the rerating could be quite spectacular to get level with other similar business's ratings. | yump
22/1/2013 10:10 | Hi Yump, im hoping for the higher end of your guess. Like you say this coming yearshould be the start of the big bucks, and they will not go through this year with out winning other contracts im sure of that. The snowball could be about to set off. | 412069
22/1/2013 08:44 | Morning all, jump up on a small sale...could be a big buy come in later on. | 412069
21/1/2013 11:37 | Looking good Yump Cheers. | 412069
21/1/2013 11:23 | Just putting a bit of perspective on things. I was curious about OS revenue, so looked up their yr end 2011-2012 accounts which show approx. £140mln revenue. Just to clarify - that's Ordnance Survey selling their various offerings to commercial and public organisations. The whole basis of their sales is dependent on the quality and management of all the geospatial data. From the recent RNS: "1Spatial has been chosen to provide centralised planning and management of Ordnance Survey's production activities, in addition to managing the large-scale data holdings that are used to generate market-leading products, such as OS MasterMap." Apparently the OS Ireland contract is the largest in 1Spatial history. So the second contract with entire OSGB should be even bigger. Still no figures though, but at least the scale of the contracts is obvious. Back in 2007 the Tadpole contract with OS was worth about 6mln/yr. I'd guess that this one is larger as it has more requirements. | yump
18/1/2013 16:11 | Although it looks tempting to view the chart as heading for a symmetrical pattern, I don't think there's any logic in that, because the business is fundamentally different now compared to mid 2012 and previously. It was a struggling IT services firm, in a competitive market, now its got a USP and a strong presence in a growing, but less competitive market. | yump
18/1/2013 15:45 | Uncanny how we have five odd days with 1mill plus trades then nothing. | 412069
18/1/2013 11:18 | Yump. I look at this in simple terms...look at the share price price back in April 2011 @ close to 8p, we now have more contracts on board world wide and a bigger profile. If SPA was worth 8p back then on a lot lower revenue than will be made by year end of this month my hunch is we are worth 8p minimum now. | 412069
18/1/2013 09:57 | First storey ive found where big data good do mankind some good other than making folk like us money. | 412069
18/1/2013 09:28 | Good one Banking...you know we wont retrace though, falt line until next news or another 1.3m buy. | 412069
18/1/2013 08:46 | i couldnt help locking in profits at 5.3 and 5.55 when it peaked....may be a mistake but after seeing a 130& and 139% gain....I didnt want to repeat past mistakes! Will look to get back in if this retraces....as always good luck all! | banking1
17/1/2013 14:47 | Yump... a new tread would be a good start to a new era. The results i was looking at were old Avisen ones sorry, and cheers. | 412069
17/1/2013 14:40 | Last few results not posted until near to last allowable date, so holding breath not advised. Would be nice to think there would be some kind of indication though, given the recent announcements | russell_hobbs
17/1/2013 12:34 | Year end is end of January. Results (finals) April - ish. I'd hope for some guidance / trading statement perhaps Feb. sometime. | yump
17/1/2013 12:32 | If I get time to start a thread, I'll do it top-down ie. market first, tech second. It will take a while to 'convert' it to a digestible form. I suppose the above could be more straightforwardly explained like this: Say for instance an organisation has gathered large amounts of data in 3 separate storage databases and it wants to combine it in some way for commercial use. There's a problem because the 3 databases have stored the data with different labels and attributes. So difficult to relate them. The FME allows a user to view and extract data from all 3 databases, combine it and then use it. It also allows re-storage for re-use, but in a nice new 'universal' format, decided by the user. So potentially, you can extract Twitter data, an Excel spreadsheet and a simple text file all into the same place and then do something interesting with it. | yump
17/1/2013 12:32 | Am i correct in saying the half year results are due end of Janauary! | 412069
17/1/2013 09:37 | Cheers Yump, all above my head but interesting. | 412069
17/1/2013 08:04 | Background for those who like it - this is a description of FME from Wikipedia: "FME (The Feature Manipulation Engine) is an integrated collection of Spatial ETL (Extract, Transform, and Load) tools for spatial data transformation and data translation produced by Safe Software Inc. of Surrey, British Columbia, Canada. This is considered to be a GIS (Geographic Information Systems) utility to help users convert data between formats as well as process data geometry and attributes." Here's a presentation on YouTube on FME from 1Spatial, looking at its use for 'non-spatial' data as well. Worth noting that FME from Safe Software is the world leading product for spatial. I reccommend watching especially from 6.00 onwards where it shows the FME universal viewer, capable of viewing, reading and moving data from and between non-spatial formats, including Twitter, Excel and loads of others. That's opened my eyes to the possibility that the additional funds available since the company became part of Avisen, could move SPA into the non-spatial and more commercial big data area. | yump |
