Glowpoint, Inc., (NASDAQ: GLOW), the world's leading
broadcast quality IP-based video communications service provider,
today announced that it will help aspiring entertainers fulfill their
dreams by providing a live online IP-based broadcast of the 2005 iPOP
event, which will be held July 17-20 in New York City. iPOP, a
national talent event developed by leaders in the fashion and
entertainment world, will be attended by actors, singers, dancers and
models who will be given the opportunity to perform directly in front
of agents, managers and casting directors who are in search of the
next big star.
The online broadcast will exclusively utilize Sony's advanced
IPELA video communication products powered by GlowPoint's broadcast
quality IP-network. Expected to draw hundreds of aspiring entertainers
from across the United States, iPOP offers young talent a unique
showcase experience and intense coaching workshops where they will
have a real-life experience auditioning as well as receiving direct
feedback from important agents who can launch their careers. For the
first time at iPOP, industry professionals, as well as family and
friends of the contestants not attending the event, will be able to
watch the performances live by visiting the iPOP web site at
www.2005ipop.com. Viewers can pay for daily access to the event and
watch any of three live video streams on demand -- showing the models,
children and other talent.
"At iPOP our goal is to expose our contestants to as many industry
insiders and potential fans as possible," said Helen Rogers, president
of iPOP. "By integrating a broadcast quality video communications
solution from Sony and GlowPoint, we are allowing our performers to be
seen by the people who can really make it happen for their careers -
no matter where they are. Video communications is an increasingly
important way that we can broaden our ability to test and deliver
talent worldwide."
"Through the live online broadcast of the event, more people in
more places will be able to view the performances and discover these
talented performers," said David Trachtenberg, chief executive officer
at GlowPoint. "The 2005 iPOP event is the latest example of how Sony
and GlowPoint are teaming to offer innovative customer solutions that
leverage high quality video communication and broadcasting services."
