A Simpler Road to Widespread Blockchain Adoption

Bitcoin Global News (BGN)

January 11, 2019 -- ADVFN Crypto NewsWire -- Yesterday, Bloomberg announced that a partnership between The New York City Economic Development Corporation, FuturePerfect Ventures, and the Global Blockchain Business Counsel has yielded something that may truly move us closer to the fabled era of widespread adoption of blockchain technologies. In short, because of these organizations, New York City will now have a blockchain education center, where anyone can go to learn to code on the blockchain or simply learn about how the blockchain and its’ related technologies could change our lives for the better.

According to CoinDesk’s article today on the subject, in an apparent vote of confidence toward the importance of the effort, the New York City government has also personally contributed $100,000 to the center’s development. They also mention that even Microsoft and IBM have given some of their resources to the center.

As the center plans to host lectures related to all things blockchain, we, as blockchain insiders can only hope that this includes adequate marketing to get the public interested in these topics. Both CoinDesk and Bloomberg’s articles do not mention whether this will be the case at this point. Since the blockchain has been spreading across New York City since about 2013, and has still remained a niche technology, any marketing that the center does will arguably be doubly important.

Though, as suggested above, neither article makes any sort of clear conclusion on this, a good place to start might be to go back to the basics.

In other words, what makes Bitcoin special? Why should the average person choose it above their trusted fiat currencies? If the center and the greater blockchain community can answer these questions in a way that anyone can understand, then the sky is the limit.

If not, then we all need to go back to the drawing board before building more multi-million dollar projects.
