Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena SpA said late on Wednesday that its board has added an item concerning Chief Executive Officer Guido Bastianini to the agenda for its meeting on Monday.
The Italian treasury, which controls the bank, is currently negotiating with the European Union for the approval of Banca MPS's restructuring plan and a deadline extension to reprivatize the bank.
Bloomberg and Reuters have recently reported, citing unnamed sources, that the treasury wants to replace Mr. Bastianini as CEO.
