Yet another erudite response Bigdog, bravo.Fortunately for all of us, we don't need to be psychic in order to understand Erdogan and Turkey's direction; a 2024 paper wrote all about it. Since the closure of the ITP, Turkey has lost circa 20% of oil imports and, as evidenced by a 125% increase in petrol and heating oil prices, hasn't yet managed to replace all that. Trajectory is still upwards and when your #1 priority is stabilising the economy. That is no bueno. Everything else is maxed out at this point, so no replacement in the near term outside of opening up the pipeline. Iraq is tipping over its OPEC quotas so won't be in the mood for discussing discounts and the KRG has just secured payments for civil servants (not to mention the sneaky side-hustle of exporting refined product) so they'll be sitting pretty too.

I'm lead to understand that the water issue has been overly exaggerated (loads of history of that out there especially in terms of barrels that haven't been discovered in 15 years). Its just a question of coming to a compromise rather than Turkey having Baghdad by the balls as many of you desperates keep hoping and posting.

I think we saw evidence of that from the Waterman's meets earlier this week which certainly didn't deliver what you all desperately hoped for.

April 23, 2024APIKUR member companies are hopeful that the visit to Iraq by President of Türkiye Recep Tayyip  Erdo?an will be a step towards a mutually beneficial resolution between the Governments of Türkiye,  Iraq, the Kurdistan Region, and International Oil Companies to restore exports through the Iraq Türkiye pipeline (ITP).  In the past week, the elected leaders of Iraq, Türkiye, Kurdistan Region, as well as the United States  have spoken about the importance of reopening the ITP export route.  For the benefit of all Iraqi people and our stakeholders, APIKUR member companies are ready to  resume exports pending agreement to current fiscal terms and surety of past and future payments  with the Government of Iraq and the Kurdistan Regional Government.

Yet more desperate wishful fantasy from scotty snowflake on Day 399 of the pipe being shut!!! How would you know what he wants scotty snowflake, you don't have a clue.

In the same way that you said the pipe would only be shut for a couple of days. In the same way that you said 117 days ago the pipe would be open soon!! In the same way you said Erbil will never concede and that Baghdad wouldn't get control. You haven't got any of your opinions correct in all the time you've been here.

While not very 'art of the deal', paying to prevent a neighbour from degenerating into a scene from Mad Max might be a cost worth taking on the chin ESPECIALLY if you intended to have a Silk Road mk2 go through that territory. But that's just a thought.

Erdogan is nobodies fool . Lets wait and see what the conditions were. He wont have given what they want unless he got what he wants in return.

I dont share your pessimism either D&P.
