                         Thistle Hotels Plc ("Thistle")

             APPLICATION FOR DELISTING AND CANCELLATION OF TRADING

Thistle has today applied for the cancellation of the listing of Thistle shares
on the Official List of the UK Listing Authority and for the cancellation of
trading in Thistle shares on the London Stock Exchange's market for listed
securities. Accordingly, it is anticipated that such de-listing and cancellation
will take effect on 17 July 2003 (being not less than 20 business days from the
date of this announcement).
