Posted at 17/3/2023 19:13 by cassini Thought this board would have a bit more traffic under the circumstances...I bought £5k of PHGP when gold was at £1568/oz on Monday and wished I'd bought more now. Gold should really get a rerating what with the dire state of the Western financial system, which seems to be built on sand. I thought that in 2008/2009 though and they successfully kicked the can down the road for another ~14 years. Long gold and tinned sardines... |
Posted at 07/9/2020 15:59 by zho >>Can someone please explain why PHGP and spot gold do not march in step please?>>Because PHGP is priced in sterling, gold in dollars. The price of gold is roughly flat at the moment but sterling has dropped quite sharply against the dollar, so the sterling value of PHGP has risen (albeit in devalued pounds). See |

Posted at 18/8/2020 18:38 by zho Hi Toffeeman,PHGP closed at a mid-price of 14,378 yesterday, and 14,357 today, a fall of roughly 0.15%. So it looks to me as if ADVFN are giving us a bum steer by showing a fall of 0.9%. |
Posted at 18/8/2020 16:38 by jimcar I think both PHAU and PHGP can trade at a premium or a discount for a short while so they are not exact correlates for gold price |
Posted at 18/8/2020 15:28 by toffeeman Anyone help?£ is up 0.87% v US$ today Gold is up 0.4% today PHGP is down 1.2% PHAU is up 0.5% JUst want to understand - should I be in PHAU instead? |
Posted at 29/6/2020 18:19 by toffeeman Now when I bought PHGP I said my target price was 1380 and it touched that back in MAy and I missed it.Looks like I will get another chance, but I am still not sure whether to sell and hope it pulls back or let it run...... I guess it's not a bad problem to have. |
Posted at 19/5/2020 09:01 by action RMAP value down more than PHGP. Easy to deal with RMAP though. |
Posted at 17/5/2020 06:59 by divmad How do I relate a share in phgp to an ounce of Gold priced in GBP? The current price of Au in GBP is £1440, which is above the quoted spread of phgp. |
Posted at 25/3/2020 11:28 by toffeeman Nope - I have an account which is defensive and goes towards paying off my mortgage so I have an AR fund and PHGP.I had two AR funds, but one was doing badly so I swapped it for PHGP and so far I am ahead of my initial investment - so PHGP has caught up for me. |
