24/6/2013 18:16 | Thank you both for updating me on events here. I have spoken with Alistair and will talk with KPMG tomorrow morning and try and get a little more detail. | playful
24/6/2013 11:19 | playful - I've left a message on your phone. Guessing that you're at the CRAW AGM. Please give me a call when you get chance. Des | deswalker

06/5/2013 23:35 | Thin air springs to mind. | playful
30/4/2013 15:28 | Thanks playful. Very disappointing indeed. Where did they pluck August from !? | deswalker
30/4/2013 13:47 | Phoned KPMG today to see if any progress has been made and was told due to staff cuts at HMRC it's not going to be anytime soon, but hopefully before August. | playful
19/4/2013 14:01 | Graham1TY, I spoke with them early last week and was told that everything remains with HMRC, that there are no other issues and that nothing has changed from six months and three months ago when I last called. I was told that HMRC have a backlog, it will take as long as it takes and they didn't offer me any timeframe. So, whilst your comment is very much my thinking too I am curious if KPMG said that explicitly and if so why ? Many TIA, Des | deswalker
19/4/2013 13:46 | Spoken to KPMG......will be another couple of months probably........ | graham1ty
21/1/2013 13:52 | Why is this taking sooooo long. | esprit
20/11/2012 10:31 | I have talked with Paul Liversidge at KPMG this morning regarding our final payment and he tells me to expect payment early next year, certainly within the first quarter as they are still finalising things with HMRC. When asked what he thought on the actual payment amount he referred me to the announcement, so I can only hope Ran and Sir Roger Jones told me the truth that a total of 4.5p was a virtual certainty. | playful
24/10/2012 22:49 | I am not a holder in Ransom shares having sold out before the withdrawal from the AIM market. Having read through some of the Sharesoc news regarding the lack of information on for example report and accounts not being produced despite undertakings from Roger Jones the non exec it would seem that these matters should be brought to the attention of the AIM market regulators and any other parties as these undertakings were given before the vote to withdraw the listing. My own views are that many non execs are not behaving in the way they ought to be and some of them should have legal action taken against them. In North America non execs have to have examinations qualifying them as non execs and perhaps the UK should bring this in together with restrictions on the number of appointments non execs can undertake particularly when they also have full time director roles in other companies and how they are appointed. Additionally it would prevent the likes of Patricia Hewitt (her of 'Lobby gate fame" picking up roles of £150k with BT I do seem to remember having worked for one of the UK's largest telephone ( I think you can guess which one from my comments above) companies that if you as an employee wanted to do some part time casual work this was pretty much prohibited ( in case it impacted your work performance) whilst the senior managers and directors seem to encouraged to pick up these roles regardless of its impact on their work. | boll
18/7/2012 22:48 | Interesting snippet on RNSM from Sharesoc: On William Ransom, covered in our last newsletter, we have finally received a response from Sir Roger Jones but it simply referred us to the liquidators. Our reply was that liquidators only have to respond to creditors and shareholders are not technically creditors. So in reality liquidators are unlikely to respond and in practice rarely do so to shareholder questions, even if they have access to the information requested (which in this case they may not).We suggested that his response smacked of evasion. 14/7/2012 13:09 | Playful I agree Fred is switched on, but ive met many more far ruthless than him. Fred is also a wizz in the antiques sector and ive bought many a time from him. To me Steve is the guy with the ideas. Fred is the numbers man. A good combination. Though I do question the sales division of the company, that to me is a big weakness. imho that is | thehangman
14/7/2012 10:33 | I notice Fred has doubled the price of top selling Optima products sold via T.W on Amazon recently. This just shows the change in policy once the pennies are going directly into our Fred's pocket and he doesn't need to share anything with anyone else. Fred is Perhaps the most ruthless entrepreneur I have come across, so he should win a prize! | playful
13/7/2012 15:08 | Whilst visiting Stroud yesterday my wife and I visited their shopping mall, Merrywalks. In the window of one of these cheap stores (Home Bargains ,who are National) they had a pile of Ransoms ALoe Vera gel 200mls. I went in the store and they had 1000s priced 200mls 0.99p!!!! Take off the vat 82p, id imagine the store paid max 35p for it. Holland and Barrett curently selling 200mls Aloe Vera £5.99 Clearing their warehouse? To sell Aloe Vera gel at such a crazy price beggars belief in that it cheapens the product, brand and company. | thehangman
05/7/2012 10:31 | After the EGM had been led to believe might exceed the range in the doc, so above 4.5p. This latest statement makes me less hopeful...... | graham1ty
02/7/2012 19:28 | I have also received my payment directly into my nominee account today. From what I remember of my conversation with the FD & Chairman they both seemed very optimistic that we'd receive in the region of 5p, so I remain reasonably optimistic on our final payment. | playful
30/6/2012 12:22 | Cheque for 2.8p per share received this morning. Accompanying letter says that ... "one final distribution will be made in due course once all remaining matters in respect of the liquidation of the Company are complete. I anticipate that the final distribution will also be within the range included in the circular to shareholders." Rather vague so I don't hold too much stall by it, but taken at face value it doesn't lead one to believe that we'll see any more than at best 4.5p in total. | deswalker
27/6/2012 13:30 | Cheers playful. A good first payment of 2.8p leaves me hopeful we might see 1.7p or even a touch more as a final payment. Fingers crossed. | deswalker
27/6/2012 12:38 | I hope you do playful .... and other posters on the thread likewise | buywell2
27/6/2012 12:20 | Thanks for the update, playful | annebz
27/6/2012 12:18 | Having talked with Paul Liversidge at KPMG today I can confirm that our first payment will be issued on Friday for the amount of 2.8p and the final payment will follow towards the end of the year. I asked him to hazard a guess on the final amount and he said the top end of the first payment range is a good indication the final payment will be in a similar top end range. I might actually make a very small profit! | playful
13/4/2012 18:58 | Sorry for you guys The lesson I have learned is when investing with a small cap company choose one that is , making profits , growing turnover , has little debt and cash in the bank but most of all Has a quality CEO with a good track record behind him Regarding Ransom .... I saw it coming years back | buywell2
13/4/2012 18:00 | EGM Result: 81.24% For 18.76% Against I can honestly say I was proud to have voted against and those that did so can be too. You do not have many opportunities to do the right thing but this was certainly one! Well done to everyone who supported this 167 year old company. | playful
13/4/2012 14:33 | kramch, I'm canvassing the opinions of attendees as to their impression of the total payout and the timeframe to receive the final payment. I'd appreciate your thoughts on what we might expect in total and when it might all be put to bed ? Many thanks, Des | deswalker |
