LONDON - CloudBuy, Europe's leading transactional cloud platform, today announced its Chairman and CIO, Ronald Duncan, has been shortlisted for Entrepreneur of the Year, at the Grant Thornton Quoted Company Awards. The nomination is in recognition of his significant contribution to the innovation, development and growth of the company over the past 12 months.

The prestigious Quoted Company Awards recognise those companies and individuals who, despite the wider economic challenges, have worked tirelessly to advance the success of their businesses. The judging panel of leading lights from across the media and financial services sectors have now shortlisted the highest achieving companies and individuals in the market. The overall winners will be announced on 29th January 2014, at the award's 10th Anniversary ceremony hosted at the Natural History Museum.

As Chairman of CloudBuy, Duncan has developed a next generation b2b ecommerce marketplace, recognised as the best in the world by Visa. Visa has secured an exclusive three year partnership agreement for a global roll-out of CloudBuy's ecommerce marketplace, which is expected to quickly transform CloudBuy from a £ 2.2m turnover UK company to a £50m turnover global business.

"I'm delighted to have been shortlisted and this is a testament to the success of what CloudBuy has achieved," comments Ronald Duncan Chairman and CIO. "With over 1 million users we are now Europe's biggest transactional cloud platform, and our work with central Government, local authorities, NHS and Universities is proof of our secure, cloud technology."

Biography

Ronald Duncan had a best placing of 13th in World Cup Ski Racing and competed in 2 Olympics prior to moving into software development. He successfully chaired the skiing governing body Snowsports GB who won 3 World Cups during his tenure. He won multiple British Championships, Internationals and Continental Cups despite a break to go to Cambridge University.

Following retirement from ski racing he set up @Software PLC followed by @UK PLC in 1999, which floated in 2005 and was recently renamed CloudBuy for global roll out with Visa.

About CloudBuy

CloudBuy, formerly @UK, is Europe's leading transactional Cloud Platform with over 1 million users. The platform supports B2B eCommerce and eProcurement across a range of public and private sector organisations providing a secure, controlled transactional environment for B2B trading.

Why say you can't find the ticker when you state the ticker in your 4th word?

Always worth having a quick peep @ techie events and articles.. today was turn of "Telegraph festival of buisness..."

Here is an extract from Mike Lynch.. the founder of Autonomy.. which I found quite interesting..
"
When investing in technologists, Lynch says when investing in small technology business you always want one person who is a believer driving it.

Quote That might not be the CEO. If you can find a role for that person that allows then to play to their strengths then that is what you should do. If you can't have a conversation with these people, you shouldn't be making the investment. People are a key asset.

But usually they are very open to having a conversation. Some technology people do love the idea of being in management but others just wants to make tech.

You do find some sad stories where there is a great technologist grabbed by some self-serving egoist.

He goes on to say that technology is no longer a support tool and can optimise sales.

Quote Typical increases in sales are 18pc when you flick the switch on an algorithym that optimises sales online.

Or look at margin control - if you can change the outcome when dealing with customer so they go for the higher margin option, that has significant effect on bottom line.

If you have someone walking around a physical store, it is very hard to see where they walked and what they picked up. Online you can do that.

Nice one! Your buy just showed up! Well done to anyone getting in below 60p. This will be cheap by end of year. I think we might be a little surprised at the next bit of news!

Yeah nms is 57-60, but it's really 57-58, so all trades show as sells.

58.5 being the notional "mid".
