you havent posted for a long time...

btw...how did your portfolio do last year ?

( various small co. inv. funds made around 50% last year.....so clearly it was a good year.....us small fish should be able to beat them since we can quickly get in and out of shares whereas they cant ....)

(my 2014 picks, well the ones I am willing to make public !, are on
fulltimeinvestors.com
....some pages got accidently removed...and back up pages not yet re-loaded...but many pages are there
Twitter Fulltimeinvest......(not enough characters for the full name)

How did GEM do for you ?
I had a look but didnt get any....it then went up around a 1/3rd in next 2 weeks I recall !

currently playing with geared plays...indices, forex etc...just with small amount of assets...can produce quick gains, or losses, probably takes year off one's live though !!

btw...link to that news was posted before....but no harm in a reminder..

(clearly IMG want/expect to get their chip designs into 'Onkyo related' units

...I expect that IMG designs will function well with UBC IP.....be nuts if they didnt)
----

old news btw is that another chip company is licensing IMG designs in audio/wi-fi area (was it ST or similar name, 2 or 3 months ago I think)...again, hopefully will function well with UBC IP

Will such arrangements deliver any positive benefit to Audioboo?

Imagination Tech partners up with Onkyo on audio development project
Fri, 28 February 2014

FTSE 250-listed Imagination Technologies Group has partnered up with home entertainment firm Onkyo to collaborate on a new generation of wireless audio music streaming systems and the global expansion of audio.

The focus of the partnership will be to "aggressively" expand wireless audio music streaming and high quality audio out of Japan to the rest of the world.

As part of the deal Onkyo has licensed Imagination's Caskeid and FlowCloud technologies.

Imagination's Chief, Hossein Yassaie, said: "We are delighted to be working with such a technically capable audio company as Onkyo. Imagination's Caskeid and FlowCloud technologies are crucial to enabling both the streaming music and high quality audio revolutions.

"Onkyo is a brand that can engineer and carry these products to market. I am certain the music listening experience is going to change through collaborations of this kind."

"the pros and cons of which we are all aware."

if you want to read some more 'of which we are all aware'.... !
..in case any useful snippet in there

...you tell me what all the merger details will be ...and 7Digitals numbers for 2013..and Audioboo news (including fund raising) and any strategic tie up news.......

and then I'll hazard a UBC share price for you, how's that ! ;-)

(btw, I try to get 70% or so of things right..not everything (if only)..and let winners run while closing out anything falling in price...last year I had an amazing year, not expecting much overall this year (very difficult to find any very good risk/rewards now imo), except hopefully UBC perhaps.)

Well with your record of getting things right from your crystal balls, put them on the line and give us your best guess instead of an essay on the pros and cons of which we are all aware.

(in case I wasnt clear enough.....if UBC get a license cut from downloads to clever units in new cars (tens of millions of units in a few years).....and from downloads to wi-fi units (like IMGs Jongo) and used globally via companies using IMG chips....it could be worth a lot !
smithie6

That's not a tech. question !

-----

My crystal ball has an excellent record ! imo
(like get out of MOS at 70p ...months before the crash to 25-30p
...short Thomas Cook grp on way down from 160p (cant believe its now gone back up !...from 20p)

but it is not giving me an image at all when I ask it your question....
...the possibilities are there.....little fish (UBC) working with big fish (IMG, who work with Apple and this Jap. company....and IMG have their fingers very firmly into the pie of car entertainment units...an area that hasnt really happened yet but is about to me imo.

the pros and cons of the proposed merger and any other announcements are all up in the air at the moment....
(clearly, if 7Digital is doing brilliantly then it would surely be expensive and produce a lot of dilution to UBC holders (personally I dont want big dilution )
and if its doing badly then it would be cheap and low dilution...but one could argue that in that case you wouldnt want to merge with it !...

be interesting to see what the directors pull out of the bag....

dirs. have a few million squid invested in the UBC cap. value....so hopefully any proposed deal would be a good one for their large holding...and hence... for small holders as well

surely cant be much longer to wait...
(if the news is good and there are share buyers...then the share price could really move up...since illiquid...)

I like to think of myself as a techno kid...at an overall level....not on each and every topic or on every IMG product
..if my opinions can be of any help...

RNS today btw of IMG collaboration with Japanese audio company
an extra new benefit for UBC imo

(some my past posts give some info on possible scenarios imo I think for UBC/IMG)

received reply from twitter:

What needs remembering is that Imagination has a shareholding in these companies as well-so that as well as the integration of the three they may also have some techno input with their wizzbits to form a complete package. I'm no techno kid but I would expect one of you are and maybe able to suggest some scenario's. Anyway not long to wait.

Thanks euclid. I sure hope so. I want to see if we are the squeezed middle or whether UBC has squeezed the toothpaste at both ends. Hopefully SC has engineered a good deal for us UBC holders even if I have been sniffy about this from day one.

interesting...I hadnt realised, or had forgotten, that 7Digital were doing much in streaming radio ...

streaming radio....big growth area imo.....and fast growth...
personally I like listening to classic rock when I am on-line....and wi-fi radios is a big growth area imo....eg. finding classic rock channels on broadcast radio is often difficult....and so many radio stations are chat chat chat...personally I think there is a big market for people willing to pay a small price to listen to advert free music.....and of course if a channel can transmit globally via the internet rather than say just in one city then it can make the difference between being loss making and making a profit

(I would assume that a logical tie would be UBC, 7DIgital and SiriusXM, 25M listeners to their satellite radio services in the USA, paying a fee each month
...UBC have been doing work for Sirius for a while...and a microcap like UBC doing work for a mega cap in other continent like Sirius is a good sign imo)

Well 3 months now and presumably our cash loan has been used to keep Digital7 solvent as best it can. Hope the best deal is coming after all this negotiation. I would also like some news on Audioboo's figures. Should be interesting!

25th November 2013 IN Press Release
7digital confirms new B2B partnerships with HMV and Pure. New funding from UBC Media Group received to support further expansion of 7digital's streaming and radio services platform. New stats show an increase of 225% in traffic to the growing platform.

London, UK, 25 November 2013. 7digital, the leading open digital music platform, today announced new partnerships, platform growth and funding from UBC Media Group plc as well entering into reverse takeover discussions with UBC to form a global leader in digital music, audio and radio services.

Today 7digital confirmed that they are the power behind HMV's new digital music services across mobile and web in the UK and Ireland, with plans to support their rapid expansion into new territories in the near future. This month 7digital also helped launch an unlimited music streaming service in the US for Pure in conjunction with their award-winning Jongo™ multi-room wireless speaker range.

In order to power new global streaming and download services such as these, 7digital's platform has undergone substantial investment in infrastructure, capacity and network optimisation. Traffic to the global platform has increased over 225% in the last six months to over 1 billion requests a month.

Ben Drury, CEO of 7digital comments, "Our platform and partnership roster has been growing steadily over time and we see continued interest in music globally, across online radio, subscription streaming, and downloads. We will continue to develop and scale the platform, and to innovate with new products and features. Radio, in particular, is an area where we see a lot of future opportunities, and we are thrilled that our new strategic investor and partner, UBC, shares this vision."

"I'm very happy that we are able to help 7digital's impressive expansion and that we have agreed to try and make our two companies one. The union of content and technology skills created by the potential merger of UBC and 7digital, would create a company with genuine global scale. The combined strengths give access to both the customers and content needed to drive business in the digital age." Simon Cole, CEO, UBC Media Group plc

It's worth a look at the 7 digital website if you haven't been there already. Lets hope some news soon.

The maximum period that a share can be suspended from AIM is 6 months. After that they are delisted.
