I'd sell at 12.25 I wouldn't gamble on Progessive going to fruition for a 5% premium over 12.25 at 13p
What they (SPM) had been planning was to hold the stock at 9p and offer a rights issue at at least 7p before letting the price slide back before the new stock reached your account, to 4.75p then buy back without telling the SE.
The real value of this company as it stands is intangible since it has always been a conduit where revenue after expenses goes to the salesmen to feed their drug habits, note how it hovers at breakeven regardless of turnover for about 6 years now.
This is a stock where the company and the mm's are in collaboration so not like NAE where I re4commended waiting for the 460p, tho I took 447 myself to take the kids on hols

The 'who' could be a rival company who just want to take a curious peek at their books. Either that who someone fishing around to see if they could salvage something on the ridiculously cheap from a business in decline.

On current trends SM is loss making, losing cash, has a 5 year decline in tangible assets, and similarly a horrible decline in turnover.

If the 'titles' had an value than SPM would be extracted it from them. Similarly, the interims were promising a lot of q4 'catch up' in events. Events revenue was down.

Haven't checked this stock out for some time, but I come back to see the whole boardroom thing turning into something out of Dallas!

So Steve's on gardening leave eh? If you're around Mr N, I have about three quarters of an acre which I really can't be bothered with in this heat. I'll slip you a few quid if you're interested. :-)

SPM and comedy value. You heard it here first.

Yep, I took your advice and I've been reincarnated into someone who really doesn't give a XXXX about this stock now. Cut my losses, put the paltry remainder of my original investment into a stock in the construction sector, and have pretty much recouped the losses from waste of space spm in no time at all. Any more wonderful advice, oh great one? :-)

So instead of holding stocks in this lot for comedy value, I now just drop in ocasionally to view the comedy from afar....and it still doesn't disappoint for good wholesome all round entertainment. I see they've strengthened the management team yet again. :) Must be for the sixth report in a row now, so when is this 'best management team in the world ever' going to produce even an inkling of an increase in turnover? This lot are priceless!

I think this one is a bid target, they have provided for all the historical liabilities and have a profitable core business on a tiny market cap.

Either this one rises naturally or the SPM management are looking forward to P45s.

Having a core 30% shareholder is a double edged sword, they protect you if your cheap but are likely to sell you out in a flash if a decent offer comes in.

Also its worth remembering that Utilico relationship was with the previous management not this present bunch. The sale of Debretts for peanuts must still hurt badly, a trophy asset sold for pennies.

Not been here for some time now but I feel SPM will be a takeover target sooner or later...

Thanks for the invite qut, but I think I'll resist the temptation. I'll leave it for dellboy, tom, pineapple and all the others (although I'm convinced the whole lot of them constitute no more than two or three people under various aliases) to slug it out over there.

Just out of interest, what is your connection with PMD and SPM, and what do you think of their future prospects? It'd be nice to see an opinion from you rather than just playing the sitting on the fence, man in the middle role. Do you actually have an opinion.......on anything in life? Come to think of it, I can't actually recall you ever giving us your 'pearls of wisdom' on anything other than prompting opinions from others. Is this your day job, advfn's very own Jerry Springer?

Believe it or not, I am very relaxed, and even my wasted investment in spm can't get to me. Sorry, but I realise now that irony doesn't come across too well on a message board, and it's only tongue in cheek (although they do say that many a true word is spoken in jest). As I said before, I'm just holding this stock for the comedy value these days. I really don't care which way the price goes. It'll never make me anything so what the heck. I'm getting a few laughs along the way, and if I ever do make a profit some time in the next thirty years or so, it'll be a bonus.

I've got several other investments which I take much more seriously, and if they started going the way of spm over the last few years, then I really would start getting ever so slightly depressed.

This is kuqi, full of the joys of summer, signing off for now.

ps By the way, why would my children want to hang you?

Sorry you're missing me qut, and I'll try not to leave it so long between visits next time, as I know you're pining for my outrageous optimism. 0)

I'm still just about in the land of the living, which could almost be a pretty good description of spm. Not a lot going on around these parts lately, and it's sort of making a night time episode of Big Brother seem rivetting.

Oh well, can't be more than a few days to the BIG ONE - annual results time. D'ya reckon turnover will break £22m? Can't say I'm too hopeful about it, but there's one or two areas of the results I'm really loking forward to scrutinising, given what's been said over the last couple of years.

frances2, haven't I heard that 20p soon comment on this board before? By the way, where is Kitkat these days? Haven't heard the "20p then on to 50p" spiel for some time now and I'm kinda missing it. Don't say that after all that bigging up of the share price, Kitkat bailed out and left me holding all this garba....er, spm stock.

Glad you cleared that one up for me. Mr. Bartender, I'll have what qut's having. 0) I suppose you really mean that despite SPM you've got many other investments which are keeping you cheerful? I can therefore deduce that you are Utilico Investment Trust and I claim my five pounds.

bluey, what a fantistic and oh so apt quote. Excellent!

Oh OK, I'll give it a go:

I must try to be as cheerful as qut despite owning a load of shares in SPM
I must try to be as cheerful as qut despite owning a load of shares in SPM
I must try to be as cheerful as qut despite owning a load of shares in SPM
