Well - Hendersons have been in quite early and sold @ higher highs - they are now buying back in with a few inst taking a heafty tax loss - PSD listed raising in total around £63mill - so to get from £63mill to here is quite an achievement indeed -

Another investor took up the reigh and has taken 3% - a finance director of some sort - Agreed that Parabel are the major factor here but also there is no debt here which is a huge positive in these cicumstances -

For me @ these levels its a great risk - reward strategy. The stipulation however is that if decided on liquidation, it should be done on a premise that the company stays listed here - There are various reasons for doing so.

It looks like they are getting that NAV from Loans & Receivables. According to the Feb 13 interim statement Feb 2013 the value attributed to Biovest is $1,616,573. In March 13 Biovest Company filed a petition for protection under Chapter 11 of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code and a Plan of Reorganization seeking to implement a restructuring of its balance sheet that would eliminate approximately $44 million in senior debt. I presume that PSD will be affected as the debt will be converted into the shares of a speculative and loss making company.
The largest portion of this 8.4p is attributable to Parabel who are in debt to the tune of over US$90mm and rising. Granted they have just had an injection of $15m but that is only 6 months cash burn.
I am intrigued that Hendersons have bought in. If they know something it is certainly not in the accounts. I am tempted but must be prepared for a long and arduous liquidation process which may or may not lead to a return of capital in PSD's investments and loans.
There again it wont be the first time that a fund manager has managed to lose other peoples money.
One for the brave. Don't bet the farm on it.

psd is ISAable - so if any profits made can be made tax free -

This could be a takeover target - indeed. Looking at it deeper i don't think a liquidation @ this stage would be the best possibility - However what PSD needs is a complete overhaul i.e change in current management -

Henderson own 12% - My personal opinion is that a donkey could do better than these chimps - However this could represent a great opportunity to buy @ these levels -

William Henry Peter Jackson is also up to 3% with Hendersons 12% -

They have been buying a bit of stock here -

Effectively this statement stands true -

NAV Performance
The NAV has reduced by US$33.69 million or 80.49% during the period and was 0.1371 US cents per PSD share or 8.4p/share (US$8.17m in total) at 31 December 2012. Bearing in mind the illiquid nature of the Company's investments, the realisation of this NAV is highly dependent on market conditions.

We currently have a market cap of around £350k - so there should be plenty of upside potential -

Would hope that the Parabel reversing into PSD could be an ideal scenario .... would be fascinating to see how share price reacts if it happens.

I tend to agree that the Petro Algae share price seems ridiculous. But with such a huge potential market it would be impossible to set a realistic price on fundamentals. The business doesn't seem to be a complete scam as they keep persuading other businesses to sign up to licence agreements eg Indian Oil Corp and GTB Power. Fortunately the PSD share price seems to be predominantly based on the cash flow and assets of the loan book. Petro Algae is er a bit of scum on top?

Let's hope they can do a deal next year to sell on the holding or split the business in such a way that we can realise the value of Petro Algae before anyone else notices that there might be a problem.

Heading back towards £4? Looks worth a punt.
This from today's S Telegraph:

"Fund managers are also keen on education and training companies as recovery plays. Three feature in the top 10 - Spring Group, which has slipped from more than 160p earlier this year to 119p, but which last week won two new contracts with Network Rail, PSD Group (266p) and Robert Walters (121.5p)."

Sper,

I was a Director at PSD - it's probably best if I don't identify myself too much more.

I know that what I say won't make any difference but I'll say it anyway. Do not invest in PSD shares. Come to think of it, do not invest in any standard recruitment agency.

All these agencies have lost their core and biggest clients. All the blue chips now do virtually all their own recruitment work, they just don't use agencies anymore. This is catastrophic for firms like PSD. I left because the writing was on the wall big time. There is a huge misconception that the recruitment agencies have suffered massively as a result of the downturn, and therefore, as you point out, cyclically they are poised to rise again. Sounds nice in theory but actually not true. 1. the economy didn't dip as badly as people thought 2. As a result over the last 3 years plenty of recruitment has continued ( is unemployment higher or lower than 3 years ago - exactly!) So if the economy didn't really tank why have the agencies all died a death? Go and look at any internet job board and you'll see why. £250 for an advert compared with a £10,000 fee from an agency - not a hard decision to make for an HR Director to make!

If you really want to know the future prospects of recruitment agencies go and ask an HR Director of any listed company how much they are planning on using agencies in the future. After that, you won't buy the shares.

Please take this in the spirit it's intended. Of course it's your decision, but you may want to follow the director buying over the last 6 months at PSD.
Absolutely ZIP!!!
