09/9/2008 08:38 | Re flippin ages. I posted this on another thread about 10 days go. The problem is that under the takeover panel rules (as I understand them) if a firm bid was put in today (very doubtful re due diligence etc) the timescale is at least 2 months for finalization. This is because there is a set minimum time scale for all sides to review the offer, with shareholders approval etc. Also this time scale includes a period of reflection on the first decision re any increase in a bid which again has to go through the review period. As said that how I understand it, but if anyone has a better understanding of the Takeover rules/regulations I would appreciate any input. Regards Pond. | greekman
09/9/2008 07:31 | 'do these things always take flippin ages?' can do, yes | the_doctor
09/9/2008 07:17 | this is taking ages, which suggests to me that the offer is at very least reasonable ? or do these things always take flippin ages? | martinfrench
08/9/2008 17:36 | Pity protherics didn't join in the party today! | bobby.ifa
03/9/2008 16:35 | I would be very upset if it was less than 100p | gregsc
03/9/2008 16:22 | I wonder what price the bids will come in at. 70p would be a decent premium to the current price. Certainly the market thought at least 60p judging by previous highs. | crickley
03/9/2008 13:13 | Standard Life aren't mugs. They take investment decisions after a great deal of diligence, not wanting to rock their steady eddy image. Treat this as more good news for us suffering souls. Amazed it hasn't moved further on this as it seems a no brainer to me. | bobby.ifa
03/9/2008 12:43 | Hopefully !!!! JB | baronet 1
03/9/2008 12:40 | Standard Life gone from 3%+ to 5%+. Surely they know something? Perhaps they have a mole in there somewhere. | rayrac
03/9/2008 11:14 | your braver than me, i'm quite deep into PTI so i'm holding tight for now. maybe if I cash in here i'll be a bit more adventerous in the future. | golly1980
03/9/2008 10:57 | In a market that just doesn't listen to good news at all, now may be the time to buy into almost anything? I certainly think so. | rayrac
03/9/2008 10:10 | golly, steady rise over last few days can, and i only emphasise can, indicate news on way because of course insider dealing doesnt happen... | martinfrench
03/9/2008 09:33 | any reason for the sharp rise this morning? | golly1980
03/9/2008 09:27 | Rayrac, I've never said bids wont be announced. I'm about 50:50 on that. Just said that there were risks and that PTI is not the no brainer some make out | the_doctor
03/9/2008 09:22 | Strangely quiet aren't we? td isn't going to be flavour of the month when the bid/s are announced! | rayrac
01/9/2008 22:47 | Red Ninja 1) that wasnt what I said at all 2) all I really said was that those making out it was 'the safest bet around' were ramping irresponsibly 3) I put forward a few scenarios where the price could drop back 4) I highlighted the views of KBC, which give pointers as to why the pipeline might not be as great as some hope. Fwiw, I also appreciate the bull points, but its important to look at both sides. Havent been following the trading, but its difficult to tell if this is heading for a bid or not - remember, someone knew beforehand last time! | the_doctor
01/9/2008 20:10 | Some PI nerves I feel. Many influenced by the_doctor who when he said he would not buy at the 25-27p said he would only buy at the 10-15p level if I remember correctly. PIs are obviously following the_doctor's lead. Or is it the brokers Peel Hunt 29p valuation ... | red ninja
01/9/2008 14:28 | Standard Life still buying - somewhat surprising to see this fallback, in view of impending newsflow and the possibility of a bid. | fhmktg
29/8/2008 18:18 | the disclosure of Invesco at 10.28 refers to a disposal of 1.6m shares. The notice of holding at 16.07 shows a reduction of 842,501 shares. Both announcements show remaining holding as 36,519,411 so why the discrepancy? answers on a postcard... | vitamal
29/8/2008 15:22 | partly I think Some others may hold indirectly via Barclays? | the_doctor
29/8/2008 15:08 | OK, so I can understand it is Barclays nominees, but how come all the other shares bought through nominees aren't reported? Or is it because Barclays is the only one with such a large - 6.8m - holding? | hot_topic
29/8/2008 14:39 | Ie, nominees td. | rayrac |
