Oriel Resources Plc (AIM:ORI, TSX:ORL) announces that on 22 April 2005 it
received the following notification from Threadneedle Asset Management Limited
('Threadneedle') disclosing a notifiable interest of Zurich Financial Services
and its Group in the shares of Oriel. In accordance with the provisions of the
section 198, Companies Act 1985, Threadneedle has advised of a change to the
notifiable interest it holds over shares in the Company as follows:

Pension Trustee Ltd; Eagle Star Executives Pension Trustee Ltd; Eagle Star
Securities Ltd. It is also a nominee for various companies not within the ZFS
Group.



BNY (OCS) Nominees Ltd is a nominee for the ZFS Group subsidiaries, Zurich
Insurance Company (UK) Ltd and Zurich International (UK) Ltd. It is also a
nominee for various companies not within the ZFS Group.



HSBC Global Custody Nominee (UK) Ltd is a nominee for the ZFS Group
subsidiaries, Eagle Star Insurance Company Ltd and Zurich Assurance Lid. It is
also a nominee for various companies not within the ZFS Group.



Chase Nominees Ltd is a nominee for Zurich Assurance Ltd.



Barrington House Nominees Ltd is a nominee for the ZFS Group subsidiaries: Eagle
Star Insurance Company Ltd, Zurich Assurance Ltd; Zurich Insurance Company and
Zurich Life Insurance Company.



Williams St Glyns (Isle of Man) Nominees Ltd is a nominee for ZFS Group
subsidiary, Allied Dunbar International Assurance Ltd, and of the Royal Bank of
Scotland (Isle of Man) Limited, the Trustee for Allied Dunbar International
Funds Ltd.



Bank of Ireland Nominees Ltd is a nominee for the ZFS Group subsidiaries Eagle
Star Insurance Company (Ireland) Ltd and Eagle Star Life Assurance Company of
Ireland Ltd.

Threadneedle has also advised that, with effect from 30 December 2004, Eagle
Star Life Assurance Company Ltd changed its name to Zurich Assurance Ltd and
that, as at 1 January 2005 shares the subject of this notification, that were
then owned beneficially by Allied Dunbar Assurance plc were transferred to the
beneficial ownership of Zurich Assurance Ltd.



The Company also announces that on 22 April 2005 it received the following
notification from Meditor Capital Management Limited ('Meditor') disclosing that
recent transactions in the ordinary shares of the Company on behalf of one of
the managed accounts resulted in the following current position: 8,215,200
ordinary 1p shares registered in the name of Morstan Nominees Ltd. The holding
represents approximately 4.10% of the current issued ordinary share capital of
the Company.



Meditor manages a variety of investment portfolios on a discretionary basis.
Except as indicated above, neither Meditor nor (so far as it is aware) its
clients are parties to an agreement to which Section 204, Companies Act 1985
applies or to any agreement or arrangement relating to the exercise of any
rights conferred by holding the shares.
