Dividend for unsecured creditors, but as they won't be paid in full there will be no distribution to the shareholders. :-(

See above link if interested.

She's doing a great job, according to her LinkedIn profile (which is strangely silent on recent corporate developments at Metalrax...):

Group Finance Director Metalrax Group Plc Public Company; 201-500 employees; MRX; Mechanical or Industrial Engineering industry

January 2012 – Present (1 year 4 months) Alvechurch,Worcestershire

AIM listed Metalrax Group PLC is a midlands-based supplier of specialist engineering and consumer durable products with turnover of £63m and EBIT of £2.4m. Since 2008, I have been a member of the executive board that has restructured the group from over 20 trading entities to 7, returning the group to profitability, having reduced borrowings from over £24m to £8.5m as at June 2012.

Key responsibilities:
• As a member of the Metalrax Group PLC Board, responsible and accountable for the success, direction & governance of the Company
• Responsible for the financial well-being of the Company
• Relationship management with key stakeholders including the pension scheme, share holders and bank
• Driving financial performance, strong financial control and Acquisitions/Divestments

And there you were thinking she had messed up...

Electronica,

I agree with most of your comments apart from last one.

You look at EKTs 5 year history they have generates considerable cash but its gone on excepetionls. Pre exceptionals EKT made good profits overall.

MRX just wasn't making it at the most basic level. Cashflow wasn't good and debt was too high at MRX. Also a pension deficit at MRX where as EKT has nothing to worry about on that level.

Lots of things Elektron can do as you know one of their worst operations is under offer.

I did predict this a while ago now, I do not want to gloat over investors losses.

Sorry to all investors here who have lost their money.

Simon T

Lousy management
Excessive debt
Underperforming subs

As goes MRX today so goes EKT tomorrow.

That bit about cancelling the finals release was said (written) with my tongue in my cheek. Irony rarely works in print!

AIM companies have 6 months to release their figures (bi-annually) - after that they are suspended. Perhaps MRX are intent on taking this up to the wire - now that really would be a bad sign.

Electronica. Gave up the smoking many moons back. But on a serious note, I don't hold either, though confess to keeping an eye on both. I note that your confidence in the turnaround at MRX is such that you decided to exit. The problem here, is that the new broom has failed to turn this around and has actually seen debt rise after going through a lengthy process of restructuring it's commitments to the banks, which was to put it on a firmer footing. Fact is it remains in a sorry old mess, which may or may not be turned around. EKT, on the other hand despite managements apparent self interests, remains profitable and is rather more sound than MRX, where interest cover is at a record low.

MRX in a worse mess than EKT? What are you smoking?

EKT are in terminal decline, bur MRX can trade themselves out of their mess once they rid themselves of the dead wood in the consumer goods division.

The engineering businesses are a profitable core operation with growth prospects - but I don't see a quick turnaround under the current regime so I exited (at a very small profit) over the last month. Will keep on watching MRX though.

I wouldn't go as far to say that Henderson is so docile! Mind you if you want someone to shake this shower up you need to call for the Bird! As for EKT, I agree with the Saint, not in the mess that MRX has found itself, but certainly frustrating for retail holders.

No reply to my emails to Caroline Green so I phoned her this morning.

Just before Xmas the MRX BoD "decided" not to issue a Trading Statement this year. I (forcefully) explained that this sends an incredibly bad signal to the market - but no further explanation or contrition was offered.

There is another Board Meeting taking place tomorrow & I asked that this item be put on the agenda. I will also email the Chairman Andrew Walker explaining my displeasure at the new MRX policy of omerta - they have decided to buck every current plc trend. They have reverted to the old national plc policy of treating shareholders as a bloody inconvenience & a nuisance.

Can't see its relevant -but yes is the answer.

Unfortunately 'yes' cannot be the answer! Possibly my question was badly formed. What I was getting at was: was your opinion based on personal experience of MRX corporate HQ, or at one of their individual businesses?
