Turnpyke days and Michael Walters ! ... Lol ... Have to agree it does look like good times ahead at MLS at long last ! Can't make my mind up though who in my opinion over the years as done more damage to MLS the NHS or those Highly Paid Comedians/Pr Experts " Twose , Green and Longstaff " ? ... Think i'll take 50/50 , Phone A Friend or Ask The Audience ... Lol

Buywell, it does seem a good buy on the face of it, but remember that cash is liquid and businesses aren't. Although they are buying a company generating £860k pa, this may not be sustainable if the key staff exit after the sale. Also when people are building towards a sale they will push all sales and cut costs to make the bottom line as high as possible to get the most they can for the business, but often these may not be sustainable long term. However I think that even if the profits fall back a bit this should be offset by the cost savings of the two operations effectively merging.

I personally do not want to see MLS buy any more businesses after this until the company as a whole becomes profit generative. Whilst the Company has a cash cushion behind it, it has options and this cushion needs to be maintained even at the cost of possibly slower growth.

Well a couple of positive things about this acquisition is that the company is already generating substantial profits and also is a very sales based outfit which is definately needed by Medical Solutions. However they will need to perform now that MLS are using up their cash pile to buy it.

My only concern is that key staff from the existing business may be lost if they aren't willing to relocate, although on a positive side there are cost savings to be made by this takeover.

Looks like the board of MLS seem to know what they are doing at last. Maybe us long suffering shareholders will now finally get some pay! Just some good results and next year end a dividend and we're off!

The important thing now is not to bail too early after how long we have all waited.

Well over the years many other stocks similar make these super announcements which to most of us small investors "sound super" but there is never any indication of revenues !

chastity , regarding your recent post . If you would care to read back on this thread you will see, I have mentioned a few times " That it will be interesting to see how the cash in bank is holding up " In next results ! As far as your losses question ... I'm hoping MLS are in Profit this time round ! Like everyone else ?

Let's wait and see as always ! But in the meantime come on MLS give us a Results Date Please !

As per my post on 5th Feb, here again is another announcement by MLS in full technicolour detail without any bottom line details. It's time for MLS to wake up to the commercial world. I don't disagree that they have made progress in reorganising the Company from the shocking state it was left in by the previous management, and in hemorraging cash, but it's time to step up to the plate.

In this world there are two kinds of companies, those who provide services and those who sell other peoples services. The first kind run on wafer thin profits or losses (guess who) and the second kind make all the money without taking any of the risks of infrastructure costs and research etc. With all these very specialist services MLS is apparently offering, it should be generating tons of cash not operating on losses. If you have a monopoly on something or the barriers to entry into your business are high (this sector is capital hungry as we know) then you price your services accordingly, not work on high turnover with wafer thin margin.

After reading about their last offering, of the genetics testing, one very good application of this technology which I have recently seen and which is a growing market is DNA testing for geneological purposes. One website I was on charge £195 for a kit (cost is probably under £3,)which allows you to take a swab from your mouth and then send off sealed in a test tube to a lab where the DNA is analysed and they can tell you whether your paternal line was say celtic, viking etc in origin and various other statistical info. This is high margin business. However the company marketing this product is the second kind of company and no doubt will have some kind of service agreement with a sophisticated, state of the art laboratory which will only be too pleased to carry out all the testing and results for a fiver each, discounted of course for volume!

MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING

I am a long suffering shareholder of MLS. When I read the header "service provider agreement" I thought great finally a new income stream for the Company. Well what a disappointment to discover that MLS are at the buying end of this agreement and not the selling end. The fact that they have entered into this agreement in itself means nothing. The only meaningful thing is what new areas it will allow them to operate in and what income streams it will produce and how much PROFITS it will allow the company to make. None of this essential detail has been provided. Instead the company goes on at great length and great technical detail of no meaning to a layman, about DNA sequencing and bio this and bio that. I am actually quite annoyed as I thought this Company had changed but now I am not so sure.

The problem that this company has is in identifying it's purpose. It talks about
customer service, it's wonderful state of the art laboratories, and all these very specialist technical services it can provide, so why the HELL is it not making any money for it's poor sucker shareholders with all these apparent advantages? The problem is one of academics running a business. Businesses should be run by businessmen/women and academics employed by those businesses.

All comments welcome!

Warranty/Suicide

I have been involved since the Turnpyke days also . And am sitting on a considerable loss , luckily have been in and out of the stock also and made a bit of cash at times . I had massive hopes years back with MLS but the company in my opinion has just been Managed/Guided Very Badly and General PR was nearly always Non Existant ! Also think the NHS didn't help matters the way they drag their feet etc .

But at least unlike lots of other companies in this sector that eventually went into the 1p Club or Bust , MLS are still here , should prove to be an interesting period between now and next Results whether MLS do get taken out or not ? My guess is they will at around 12/15p ... Wish we had this Management a few years back .

At the end of the day lets wait and see , would think any potential bid move I would think will come sooner rather than later now at long last MLS is taking shape ... Keep the faith boys and girls ... Lol

Hi Warranty ... I know you have been involved with MLS a long time also ... Going back to the NHS they have messed loads of other companies about also over years , they just don't want to spend money at the end of the day ! But with that in mind how many other countries on this planet would { Knowing also how long it took NICE to checkout out the MLS Technology was it 18/24mths another way of not having to spend money ? Remember the current technology the NHS use is well over 50yrs Old } Then when everything is approved turn round and say we don't want to put all our eggs in one basket fair play ! But then offer MLS's American Competitor which worked out around 30% per patient dearer per test than MLS , up to half the available business potentially available ! Also if I am not mistaken MLS's Technology was actually being used in Scotland long before the UK !

The NHS in my opinion in this country is best described as a "Shambles" If a Private Company was running it the way it is being run , they would be up in court on "Fraud/Deception Charges" taling all them NI contributions of people every Week/Month for what ? If you live in a different area only a couple of miles away you will or won't get treatment due to funds etc ? Is that real ?

Anyway Viva MLS think the good times at long last are not too far away now .

As always "Time will tell"
