My guess that the share price should be £1 by end of April looks likely to be right. The trading environment for MXM and similar companies seems to be improving.

That spread is too big. I think your broker is not getting you a fair price. Maybe you should look at another broker.

MXM announced interims today to 30 Nov that suggest its death has been a little overstated and there are signs of life. share price up 12% to 80p and I expect could be close to £1 by end of April.

Paid for "research" from Equity Development forecasts current year adjusted EPS of 13.3p so PER of about 6 at 80p/share for a market cap of about £20m with net debt around £13m (reducing), the EV/EBITDA is ca. 5.4 and forecasted full year divi of 3p with 1p payable from interims.

Whoops, can answer my own question. Directors say hit by up to £1.3m operating profit and forecasts are circ £6m pre tax for 2010. So say a 20% hit to eps and roughly a 40% fall in sp?

So how important was QAD to them? Does it merit the share price fall?

First of all the FD goes, then the Chief Exec moves to Chairman and we get a new Chief Exec (and FD), both ex-Netstore.

What is going on?
Are there problems that have not been made public?
Or is it just that the forecasts look sick?

A new Chief Exec and FD point to an opportunity for a "new broom brushing clean" - it looks to me as if we need to prepare ourselves for a big clearing out of problems....

This company as I understand it, are as busy as ever as a unit. On the outside they have stated revenue and how the business in being affected, however they have also said recurring revenue is still flowing through the company and they are still here. I do not see too many problems and expect sooner or later the shorters will leave this one, only to see it rise back above £1.

The announcement states that he has left for a new job.

With any other company, I would be very wary of such an announcement. However, I am in the fortunate position of knowing Kelvin Harrison personally, having worked with him many years ago for about a year. IMO he is utterly trustworthy and prudent and a very capable manager. Therefore, I find it highly unlikely that anything "iffy" is being hidden from shareholders.

I have to make a couple of caveats to that statement. Firstly, obviously you do not know me from Adam, so anything I say, as with any other BB poster, must be taken with a large pinch of salt. Secondly, not even Kelvin can know how bad things are going to get in the UK economy over the next couple of years - though I do think Maxima is well placed to weather any storm, with its solid base of recurring revenues (which are pretty non-discretionary for Maxima's clients).

Because of my concerns about the UK economy, I am not adding to my holding yet - but if the share price goes much lower, I might. After all, a 2p interim dividend is still being paid & the 2009 & 2010 P/E is STILL under 3 after the recent downgrade. I would really like to see some sign that the economy is turning and IMV we've got quite a way to go yet. Not sure if there'll be anything positive in 2009 at all.

Regards,

Mark

Finance Director leaves after less than 9 months in the job.
Not good news - I wonder what's behind his departure?
