Kvaerner's liquidity

LONDON, 17 OCTOBER 2001: Kvaerner, the Anglo-Norwegian engineering and
construction Group today said that, as previously announced, it has an
immediate requirement for short-term liquidity, over and above that agreed
with its lending banks.  The Group's main banks have said that they will
contribute in finding a solution to this need.     

The Group is currently involved discussions with its banks over the necessary
loans to cover the need for liquidity and expects to release the outcome of
these  negotiations shortly.
