so can anybody tell me is there any chance to get the money ( or part of) back?
Tomorrow IFNC will disappear from the screen, so I just wonder what can be done.
IFNC published on their website (some time ago) that they were tipped as a "stock booming with potential" how sad ..

Post now edited; as nothing received. Intco my advice to you is if the police are looking into IFNC then that should be where you pass on your info.

I could be totally wrong of course having not received anything yet or any indication, but a reading of my most recent posts might help people make an educated guess, as I have done, as to what area might be being referred to.

INFONIC PLC ('Infonic' or the 'Company')

Trading update and Share Suspension

Infonic plc, (IFNC) the AIM-listed provider of innovative information management
software, makes the following statement regarding results for the year ended 31
December 2008.

As in previous periods and as disclosed in the interim results, the Company's
financial results remain reliant on certain material contracts. Unfortunately
some contracts, some of which are material, were not concluded before the year
end and there is uncertainty as to the exact timing of their conclusion.

Consequently results for the year ended 31 December 2008 will be significantly
below market expectations.

Additionally, the Company has some credit facilities which are expiring or
payable during the first quarter of 2009. Infonic is seeking discussions with
debt providers and shareholders to provide short term finance.

In light of this, the Company has today requested suspension of its shares from
trading on AIM, while it seeks to clarify its financial position. A further
update will be made in due course.

Broom, LOQ and Coolabi have had similar S+F announcements in recent days.

Fwiw and not that anyone cares, I think we have almost reached the 'tipping point' (no not rubbish tip lol) where the balance of risk has swung in favour of the buyer here at this price. Now some of you might recall I don't rate these nasty intangibles, however if IFNC do need funds, they might be able to unlock some value in this instance from selling parts of the business.

And if they don't need funds then the results should show enough improvement to merit a share price rerating. I make the market cap about 6-7 million and that doesn't look unfair imho.

That said, there are a lot of cheap companies where things are 'more sure-footed' and right now I need funds, not spending same, but IFNC is definitely higher on my radar (helped by Broom's recent posts) than for some considerable time!

I guess from the Financial Services Compensation Scheme. But thinking further, the holding is through Pac Con Securities not Nominees ( I jumped to the wrong conclusion above!) therefore the holding is still to be resolved or sold by the liquidator, assuming they can trace the shares?!!! Therefore, I still think ifnc should tell shareholders that some attempt is being made to clarify the situation, otherwise no one has any idea if the number of pac con shares held in ifnc is accurate, or may have been disposed of earlier by pac con?

Fair point Joe, at this level they must start looking attractive to a larger player, afterall what cost developing software compared to buying IFNC and getting tried and tested products with an existing user base? Are they worth £10m for example (petty cash for the likes of Sun Micro). I'd rather see IFNC go it alone of course, but I'm getting more and more pessimistic by the day.

H101 - fair point - I guess some will be focusing on ifnc's results to see what they have achieved in 2008 and determining whether the text division/lexalytics are making progress - the results can't come soon enough! My guess is that if ifnc do well, they are vulnerable to a bid, and if they do poorly, they are even more vulnerable?!!

broomsticks - thanks. Lexalytics might have been valued at $21m but it is currently being valued at around $1.5 to 2m dollars at most, if we take it as say around one-third of ifnc's current valuation! If lexalytics held off raising capital, then it is obviously relying on the parent, ifnc, for cash! I take this as a positive in that ifnc might be generating some reasonable cash now? Still might be the possibility that ifnc may look to float this off or demerge it later - I guess this might be the way they hope to make some real money?

If only ifnc communicated more, then I could stop this idle speculation!

What a year for IFNC holders, I'm sure many like me have an average price of around 5p and are staring at a considerable paper loss. Next year will be a defining one for IFNC imo, sh*t or bust in fact. The new contract wins have done nothing for the sp, there are obviously some serious concerns regarding the balance sheet. I will remain faithful (no choice really) as I think we are all owed a return on our investments and patience. Sincere good luck to all and best wishes for 2009. This time next year Rodders....
