Greencore Takeover Rumours (GNC)

I did predict Interim Dividend would be 1 pence maximum. Giveen the Dividend was zilch, that prediction was pretty much spot on. Whilst the rise in the share price is very much to be welcomed, since it takes Ggreencore out of bargain bsement takeover territory, I suspect the Final Dividend to be announced in September could be as little as somewhere between 1 and 2 pence. Enough to support the share price, but nothing more

Blackhorse overly optimistic. In years when Greencore previously paid a Dividend the payout was 37% of that years profits. Do the maths and I think you will find that comes to 6.72 pence per share. Normally about 33% of that at Interim stage. So based on precedent the maximum Interim to be devlared tomorroe is 2 pence per share. At a bullish yield of 4% that will only boost the share price to £1.50. So still a potential takeover target. I am pessimistic, and expect an Interim Dividenf of 1 pence per share at most, which will depress the share price and probably see a decline to about £1.25. I hope I am wrong, but 20 years as a Greencore investor yends, not unnaturally, to induce pessimism.

Afraid 2 Pence per share Interim Dividend is the most that can be expected at the present moment. Suspect it will be a lot less or possibly no Dividend and no Buyback at worst or one pence per share Interim Dividend at best. If the share price does not rise substantially on the back of what the Board have to say for themselves on Tuesday then Greencore will remain a takeover candidate.

Thanks for info. Peel Hunt is potenyially interesting as I brlieve not previously a top 10 shareholder. If buying now possibly purchasing in order to arbitrage in the event of a takeover offer. Hopefully Dividend rather than more Buybacks when results announced at end of May..

Kudos goes to Oasis for the recent boost to the share price, in the expectation that the Hong Kong Konginvestor will shake ip the company. If Daniel Wotner of Oasis can do for Greencore what he did at Premier Foods a couple of years ago (google it), Greencore will be a transformed and much more investor friendly company (media comentary suggests that one of his first priorities is the return of the Dividend). Hopefully this will all lead to a significant rise in the share price and Greencore ceasing to be an obviously "bargain bssement" takeover target. All of this is long overdue in my opinion, and entirely predictable, which is why I substantially increaset my holding at an average of 68 pence a share in November 2022, and believe that the best is still yet to come. Onwards and upwards

If no dividend is forthcoming at the interim stage in May that will probably seal Greencore's fate and there will be a takeover bid, possibly a contested one.
