Energy XXI announces that the previously announced Rule 10b5-1 Trading Plan entered into by the Company's Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, John D. Schiller, Jr. on 12 November 2013 has been terminated due to the fact that Energy XXI determined to proceed with an offering of convertible notes. No shares were sold by Mr. Schiller pursuant to the Rule 10b5-1 Trading Plan previously announced on 12 November 2013. Mr. Schiller entered into a new Rule 10b5-1 Trading Plan dated 20 November 2013 ("the Plan").

Under the Plan, Mr. Schiller has granted UBS Financial Services, Inc. the irrevocable authority to sell up to 175,000 common shares in the Company (the "Plan Shares"), subject to meeting certain conditions. Following the entry of the Plan, Mr. Schiller has no ability to influence the sale of these shares on the specified terms. The Plan terminates on 15 September 2014.

The Company will make appropriate announcements as it is informed of sales of the Plan Shares.
