|spob: He will not get my shares for 415p. Taking advantage of the current low price to put in a silly offer. Sales growth of late has not been great however this is a very profitable company with good margins and a high return on shareholders equity. The high yeild is well covered.
I would be quite happy for this offer to lapse.
The share price reaction today reflects possibility of a counter offer.|
|v11slr: Rated as attractive in this month's Analyst magazine.
5 star quality of business.
4 star margin of safety.
Here is their investment verdict -
"The shares are an unbelievable long term bargain with so few business risks attached. Out net present value, based on reasonable assumptions, is twice the current share price and the IRR above 15%. The route to thsi level of share-owner value creation is credible and predictable to a high degree of certainty. The balance sheet, the level of sustainable incrementa returns, cash generating capability and operational management are all top drawer. Of course, the markey price may come cheaper if big-ticket discretionary consumer spending gets hit. But, over a time horizon of 5/10 years, DFS at 380p ust be one of the best investments around today. ATTRACTIVE"

|acorn1: cant find a thread on this, interesting though isnt it:
from city whispers:
Thursday 21st September
DFS - currently £3.22, company is involved in retailing and manufacturing of furniture. On the 12th October the company announces its preliminary results and proposed dividend. The company has previously indicated a confident outlook, and in April the company indicated the possibility of a special dividend payment at full year. The market has started to realize this with the increased activity in the stock today. We envisage a steady run in the share price up until the results and therefore rate this stock as a strong buy.|
