Embargoed Release: 07:00hrs Monday 2 July 2007 CMR Fuel Cells Plc (`CMR' or the `Company') Samsung Joint Development Agreement CMR Fuel Cells Plc, the Cambridge based compact fuel cell stack specialist, is pleased to announce that it has entered into a non-exclusive Joint Development Agreement (`JDA') with Samsung SDI Co. Ltd. (`Samsung') of Korea. Under the terms of the JDA, Samsung and CMR will collaborate to produce a Direct Methanol Fuel Cell system demonstrator incorporating CMR's mixed reactant stack technology. The system will be evaluated as a potential alternative and replacement for today's conventional battery solutions. CMR has already delivered the first such stack to Samsung. John Halfpenny, CEO, CMR, commented: `We are delighted to be working with Samsung SDI who is a world leader in the delivery of innovative, leading-edge consumer products. Samsung SDI is in the vanguard of major OEMs who recognise the potential that fuel cells have to power the next generation of connected, feature rich, `always on' electronic devices'. CMR is targeting the portable electronics industry as the first application for the fuel cell stack products that it is developing. CMR believes that this market offers significant revenue opportunities resulting from the strong and pressing commercial need for extended run-times for portable consumer products and the sector's history of consistently and rapidly adopting new technologies to meet consumer demand. -Ends- Further Information John Halfpenny CMR Fuel Cells plc 01223 875 544 CEO Andrew Tan Hansard Group 020 7245 1100 www.hansardgroup.co.uk Michael Ansell Investec Investment 020 7597 5970 Banking About CMR CMR Fuel Cells plc is a UK based developer of high-performance compact fuel cell stacks for the portable consumer electronics industry. The Company is currently engaged with a number of consumer electronics OEMs and leading fuel cell system developers and plans to become a leading supplier of small, low-cost stacks for Direct Methanol Fuel Cell (`DMFC') power supply systems. DMFC power systems can deliver longer electrical equipment run-times than conventional battery solutions as well as delivering other superior performance features such as instant recharge, which are ideally suited for modern feature rich, `always on, always connected' wireless devices. In 2006, an estimated 1 billion Li-Ion battery packs were sold world-wide to power portable consumer electronic devices. This number is expected to rise to an estimated 1.9 billion in the year 2008.
