Embargoed Release: 07:00hrs Thursday 1 May 2008 CMR Fuel Cells plc ('CMR' or `the Company') AGM Statement CMR Fuel Cells Plc, the specialist developer of high power density fuel cell stacks for portable electronics applications, will be holding its Annual General Meeting today at 9.30am. Tim Curtis, Non-Executive Chairman, will make the following statement: `CMR experienced an encouraging start to the year; during the first quarter the Company demonstrated working direct methanol fuel cell systems capable of powering lap-top computers to our targeted potential customers in addition to major trade shows in Tokyo and Shanghai. This is in line with our strategy of seeking commercial traction in the established Asian markets. As well as permanent representation in Japan, we have active commercial programmes in Korea, Taiwan and China and trials are underway with a number of OEMs, including Samsung SDI of Korea. The demonstrations of our fuel cell systems continue to be very well received, highlighting our proven abilities to not only design and develop direct methanol fuel cell stacks but also our potential to create complete fuel cell systems that are greatly assisting in attracting new joint venture partners. The Board is confident that the Company is strengthening its ability to exploit these systems commercially over the coming year. I would like to reiterate that as we reported in our final results for the year ended 31 December 2007, CMR continues to be tightly managed and is operating well within its budget. The Board currently expects the Company's cash reserves of £8 million to be sufficient for planned operations until early 2010.' The AGM will take place in Room CR15, Harston Mill, Harston, Cambridge, CB22 7GG. -Ends- Further Information John Halfpenny, CEO CMR Fuel Cells plc 01223 875 544 Vikki Krause Hansard Group 020 7245 1100 www.hansardgroup.co.uk Michael Ansell Investec Investment 020 7597 5970 Banking About CMR Fuel Cells plc CMR Fuel Cells plc is a UK based designer and developer of high performance compact Direct Methanol Fuel Cell (DMFC) stacks and systems for portable and small stationary power generation applications ranging from media players and games consoles through to laptop computers and remote monitoring devices. CMR is focussed on building commercial traction and revenue in the consumer electronics industry where demand is highest for power solutions to replace today's Lithium batteries. The Company's DMFC solutions overcome issues surrounding traditional batteries such as short run times, return to mains recharging and questionable battery safety and are ideally suited for modern feature-rich, `always on, always connected' wireless devices. In 2006, an estimated 1 billion Li-Ion battery packs were sold world-wide to power portable consumer electronic devices. This number is expected to rise to an estimated 1.9 billion in the year 2008. To exploit this opportunity, CMR has assembled experienced and capable technical, commercial and management teams which, when combined with its world-class, purpose built facilities and broad and growing intellectual property portfolio, strongly positions it to be at the forefront of its high-growth target markets. CMR has broad, unique knowledge of all aspects of portable fuel cells including platinum free catalysts, membrane electrode assemblies (MEAs), mixed and separated reactant stack architectures, DMFC systems and specialist testing. CMR is pursuing an over-lapping two phase strategy which will allow it to develop and deploy competitive products that meet the needs of near-term `early adopter' markets as well as mid- to long-term mass markets.
