Chloride Group PLC ("Chloride") has today received notification under Section
198-202 of the Companies Act 1985 that Fidelity International Limited and its
direct and indirect subsidiaries (together "Fidelity") has a disclosable
interest in a total of 14,532,573 (5.87%) ordinary shares of 25p each in
Chloride. The notification states that the interest also comprises the interest
of Mr Edward C Johnson 3d ("Mr Johnson") a principal shareholder of Fidelity.

This compares with the interest of Fidelity announced on 17 December 2001 when
they disclosed an interest in 15,566,685 (6.28%) ordinary shares of 25p each in
Chloride.

The notification also states that:

  • The disclosable interests include interests held on behalf of authorised
    unit trust schemes in the UK, notwithstanding the exemption from reporting
    pursuant to Section 209 (1) (h) of the Companies Act 1985

  • Nothing in the notification should be taken to indicate that Fidelity and
    Mr Johnson act as a group or in concert in respect of the disclosable
    interests

  • The disclosable interests arise under Section 208 (4) (b) of the Companies
    Act 1985.
