Chloride Group PLC - Directors' Shareholdings

CHLORIDE GROUP PLC

Chloride Group PLC ("the Company") announces that, as a result of the exercise
of share options by an option holder who is not a director of the Company, the
number of Ordinary Shares of 25p each in the Company ("Shares") held by the
Chloride Group Employee Benefit Trust ("the Trust") was reduced on 21
September 1998 by 30,000 Shares.

The Trust exists for the purpose of transferring such Shares to option holders
on the exercise of options granted under certain of the Company's share option
schemes ("the Schemes").  Following the reduction the Trust holds 7,521,920
Shares, representing 3.1% of the Company's issued share capital.

Each of Mr K H Hodgkinson, Mr N W Warner and Mr D J Wright, being Executive
Directors of the Company, is, for Companies Act purposes, regarded as having
an interest in the 7,521,920 Shares held by the Trust.  Despite the technical
interest in all the Shares held by the Trust, an Executive Director will only
be able to receive from the Trust that number of Shares to which he is
entitled on exercise of an option granted to him under the terms of the
Schemes.
