                    Board Appointment

BTR plc announces the appointment of Sir Graham Hearne as
a  non-executive director.  Sir Graham, aged 60, Chairman
of   Enterprise   Oil  since  1991  and  formerly   Chief
Executive, will join the Board with effect from today.

Commenting  on  the  appointment, Bob  Bauman,  Chairman,
said:

"I  am  delighted  to  welcome Sir Graham  to  BTR.   His
appointment  will be of immense benefit  to  shareholders
and  his  wealth  of  industrial experience  will,  I  am
confident, enable him to make a valuable contribution  to
the Group

"We  shall continue our policy of strengthening the  non-
executive  composition  of the  Board,  recognising  that
independence and broad business knowledge play a key role
in the future development of BTR."
