BTR APPOINTS ANDREW GREEN AS
DIRECTOR, STRATEGIC PROCUREMENT

BTR plc today announces the appointment of Andrew Green as
Director, Strategic Procurement, with effect from 1 September
1997.

In his new role, Andrew will be responsible for ensuring the
cost-effective purchase of materials and services for BTR as a
whole.  Based, initially, in Leatherhead, Surrey, he will be
directly responsible for the operations of BTR Purchasing and
will oversee the activities of affiliated Group functions
worldwide.

Andrew has had wide international experience in strategic
purchasing, logistics, manufacturing and marketing across a
range of senior posts with Nissan Motor, Rover Group and Price
Waterhouse.  Prior to joining BTR, he was Executive Vice
President, Nissan Motor Deutschland,  responsible for planning
and implementing a new process based structure, network
remodelling and revised product positioning.  From 1991 to
1996, he was first Marketing, and then Sales Director at Nissan
responsible for successfully establishing Nissan Motor Great
Britain.

Andrew spent some 12 years in purchasing roles for both Rover
and Nissan before becoming Purchasing Director at Rover Group.
In this role, from 1988 to 1991, he implemented the company's
"zero inflation" programme, controlling production materials
expenditure and launching the concept of partnership
relationships with suppliers which focused on long term cost
reduction programmes.
