|s2lowner: From the takeover panel website in brief summary of the rules:
When a person or group acquires interests in shares carrying 30% or more of the voting rights of a company, they must make a cash offer to all other shareholders at the highest price paid in the 12 months before the offer was announced (30% of the voting rights of a company is treated by the Code as the level at which effective control is obtained).
I am no expert but why not in this case ?
Kestrel Partners has shorted the shares 1.45 % would that be to underpin the share price of their holding I can't see them listed as a major shareholder|
|lord gnome: You are right Speccy, but having spent all the time since my purchase with the share price under the water I am just happy to get out at a small profit and recycle the cash elsewhere. When I bought in at 315 I had high hopes that we might see 500 again, but then the profit warning came along and upset the apple cart. It was then always going to be a long haul, so today's news provides a quick, easy and profitable exit for me.|
|rhubarbcrumble: I agree. Poor show.
As a long term holder, I am very disappointed with the way this has been handled.
I fear that it will be some time before the share price recovers and, of course, we may have another profits warning.
The question is, whether to cut my losses or hang on.
One of the advantages of the share is the IHT exemption, but at what price?|

|wanttowin: Hi all, Been in here quite awhile, can anyone enlighten me how nearly 500,000 shares were "bought" today but do not seem to effect the share price ???|
|rivaldo: Hi qvg. You've done well here then. congrats. This is a relatively small holding for me, so I don't post often, but the share price seems to have great strength and support and I thought I'd post the broker upgrade to the nice round 300p.
AN. also got a nice mention in a certain tipsheet this weekend, concluding with a Buy rec, so we may see more action this week.|
|lplp: Very positive statement, maybe we will get a bit of share price movement.|
|richoneday: I think that AN needs to announce an acquisition before long to really bolster their share price. They are strong in fixed and mobile telecoms and are weak in offering data services, problem is that there aren't many good ISP's left who would fit easily. My instinct is that if they could do something that shows they could capture more of a customers telecoms/data spend then the share price will increase significantly.
