So the listing of CDC on AIM (due 7/5/10) has been deferred. Noone at Fox Davies Capital who can discuss this at present. Presumably there were not enough investors in the IPO? If so, presumably this means that AFNR's assets are worth less than when Axmin first proposed the TO?
It is reassuring to note from Marben's post that AFNR can provide political influence in addition to funds.

From the RNS:

"In consideration for the acquisition by AXMIN of the issued and outstanding securities of AfNat under the Transaction, AXMIN would issue an aggregate of approximately 206,328,666 common shares of AXMIN to former holders of ordinary shares of AfNat and an aggregate of approximately 14,961,941 share purchase warrants to acquire common shares of AXMIN and to former holders of convertible securities of AfNat."

There are currently 421.5m AfNat shares in issue, so AfNat shareholders can expect something like 49 Axmin shares for every 100 AfNat shares held. Selftrade may just have a default figure because the final numbers have not yet been defined. A shareholder circular with all the details is awaited.

encarter,

AFAIK CDC have not yet issued their prospectus. They and Fox-Davis Capital have, however, issued a confidential presentation to pre-IPO investors this month, indicating an intention to float early next month.

Cheers,

Mark

would it be a cheap way for a Canadian investor to buy axmin shares, ie buy some afnr ahead of the merger?

Exchange rate is something unavoidable when purchasing International stocks but still very popular with lots of investors eg VST, WZR, etc. Nice to know Option Stocks are still being exercised either to be sold later or converted to AXM ordinaries.

Trading definitely taken a new lease of life - sells are being absorbed and buys are met with a price rise like yesterday. Very liquid for once - could easily buy 51k this morning. Wonder if present management get seats in AXM - weren't they instrumental in making Kalahari (KAH) what it's today?

nobody seems to be buying only selling as shown on the Plus market......I dont think investors know just what is going to happen as they have not been given enough info from AFnat to know which way to jump, so they appear to be jumping to sell rather than buy

Novice question if you don't mind, why is the spread so high, surely if it was lower more investors would buy in, this would benifit MM's, Investors and the SP, or am i missing something?

Yes not on many investors radar yet. I'm not sure of the implication of mms holding stock when it switches to Toronto. Perhaps they don't want to get stuck with any, which could present an opportunity for us.

a poster (19,3,10 - iii-afnr)

We have previosly discussed on this board the links of AFNR's management to Stephen Dattels &co. I found it interesting that today African Barrick lists on the London stock exchange. Toronto based Barrick Gold, the worlds biggest gold producer will retain a 75% holding. Guess who spent many years at Barrick-Stephen Dattels!!
But most interesting is the reason given for the spin off of African Barrick namely a strong interest in African mining assets and gold among London Investors.
The proposed AFNR deal does exactly the opposite by taking the listing to Canada. May be the proposed deal needs rethinking so that AFNR takes over the Canadian company and retains its London listing.

So it looks like we are going heavily into gold mining, plus we are still part of everything we were. Speaking of which, it looks like a takeover of EXT is on the cards, the share price is on the up which has filtered through to KAH and so on down to URU. It hasn't reached us yet though so perhaps investors are unaware of our connection.
