S. Jorstad, Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of United Protection Security Group Inc. ("UPSG or the Company"), a Canadian based company, trading on the TSX Venture Exchange, under the symbol (TSX VENTURE:UZZ) is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Michael (Mike) Derbyshire B.PA, ICD.D as a director of the Company. Mr. Derbyshire is currently the Assistant Vice President, Enterprise Risk Management at Servus Credit Union, the third largest Credit Union in Canada. His experience in the credit union system and involvement in creative partnerships, including being a graduate of the Directors Education Program through the Institute of Corporate Directors will be of significant value to UPSG in the challenging economic times ahead. He is a former director of the Alberta Credit Union Deposit Guarantee Corporation and Chair of the Risk Management Committee of that corporation. A retired senior police officer, and former Director of Safety and Security for the Edmonton Transit System, he is a recipient of the Alberta Centennial Medal for service to the people and the province and has been a director and officer on numerous boards and committees both within and outside the Credit Union and Criminal Justice Systems in Alberta for the past twenty eight years. Mr. Jorstad also takes pleasure at this time to announce that he has appointed Mr. Fred Rayner formerly Chief of Police for the City of Edmonton, and currently a Director and Chair of the Governance Committee of UPSG to the position of "Special Advisor to the President". It is Mr. Jorstad's belief that as President of the Company he has a duty to ensure that there is continuity and additional support at the Executive Management level at this time as the Company continues to pursue its long range business plan in the face of challenging global economic circumstances. Mr. Rayner has extensive experience at the senior corporate levels, both public and private and has enduring relationships on various boards and consultancies, including Co-chair of the Mayor's Task Force on Community Safety for the City of Edmonton and guest lecturing engagements at the International Institute of Management Development, Lausanne, Switzerland.
