Triex Minerals Corporation: Athabasca Basin Drill Programs Update

31/03/2009 10:10pm

Marketwired Canada

Triex Minerals Corporation (TSX VENTURE:TXM) (the "Company") is pleased to
provide an update on its current winter drilling programs in the Athabasca
Basin, Saskatchewan.

Drilling

Two winter drill programs have been running concurrently in the Athabasca Basin.
Drilling at the Stony Road property is now complete, while drilling at the
Pasfield Lake property is ongoing. Property details, including ownership,
location maps and results from previous programs, are available on the Company's
website at www.triexminerals.com.

Two vertical holes were completed on the main target at the Stony Road property,
for a total of 1,300 metres. The unconformity was intersected at depths of
around 600m, consistent with regional data. The target airborne and ground
electromagnetic conductor at the western margin of a regional magnetic high was
confirmed by prospective metapelitic gneiss, both graphitic and pyritic,
intersected in the basement. Chlorite alteration was in sandstone throughout
Hole 1; localized but pervasive clay alteration was intersected in Hole 2
sandstone. The significance of this alteration, and possible follow-up drilling,
will be evaluated once geochemical data are in hand for uranium, and the key
pathfinder elements. Geochemical samples of core will be processed at the
Saskatchewan Research Council Geoanalytical Laboratories in Saskatoon. A partial
digestion preparation and fluorimetric XRF analysis will be used, with a check
by total digestion preparation and ICP analytical finish. Drill holes were
radiometrically probed using a down-hole Mount Sopris 2PGA-1000 poly-gamma
probe; there were no continuous zones of significant radioactivity encountered.

Dr. Charlie Harper, P.Geo., Chief Geologist, Triex, is a Qualified Person as

Qualified Person as defined by National Instrument 43-101.
