H2O Innovation: Professional Water Technologies Develops Three New Membrane Products

designed systems along with specialty chemicals for membrane filtration systems,
announces that its California business unit Professional Water Technologies
("PWT") has developed three new membrane cleaners targeting the growing reverse
osmosis ("RO") and ultrafiltration/microfiltration ("UF/MF") membrane markets.


"After over fifteen years of developing unique chemical technologies, PWT is
proud to release three exciting new products to accommodate the growing RO, UF
and MF global membrane markets," says Stephen Dunham, PWT's founder and H2O
Innovation's Vice-President, After-Market Sales and Maintenance Solutions.
"These markets are expanding at an annual rate of 11% for RO and 8% for UF/MF.
All three new cleaners represent the most advanced, economical and effective of
our membrane cleaner product lines which account for approximately 10% of the
revenues derived from the sales of services and consumable products of the
Company."


The OptiClean(TM) line of powder membrane cleaners now includes OptiClean(TM)D,
which aims at removing inorganics, particularly iron and manganese, from RO, UF
and MF membrane systems. "OptiClean(TM)D is buffered to reduce pH fluctuation
during cleanings and uses powerful chelating and detergency technology to
aggressively remove inorganic foulants," says Ryan Furukawa, PWT's Technical
Support Manager. "This product is a valuable new asset in PWT's extensive line
of membrane cleaners."


In addition to OptiClean(TM)D, PWT has developed two additional products for its
Lavasol(TM) line of liquid membrane cleaners. Lavasol(TM)VII is a new
high-performance alkaline liquid membrane cleaner designed to remove silt, metal
precipitants, sugars, and other organics such as oils or greases from RO, UF and
MF membrane systems. Similar to OptiClean(TM)D, Lavasol(TM)VII is a low-foaming
formulation with advanced chelating properties. It is also buffered to maintain
a consistent pH throughout the cleaning process. 


PWT is also releasing Lavasol(TM)VIII, a new alkaline liquid membrane cleaner
designed to remove acid insoluble foulants from chlorine-tolerant MF/UF
membranes such as those found in a variety of municipal and industrial
applications. According to Jim Beckman, PWT's Product Development Engineer,
"Foulants such as silt, colloids, organics, microbiological, mucilaginous
material, and other acid-insoluble materials are detrimental to the performance
of MF and UF membrane systems. The addition of Lavasol(TM)VIII accommodates the
growing need to remove such foulants in these important markets."
