PetroReal Energy Inc. Provides First Default Status Report

PetroReal Energy Inc. (TSX VENTURE:PNI) ("PetroReal" or the "Corporation")
provides its first bi-weekly Default Status Report as per National Policy 12-203
- Cease Trade Orders for Continuous Disclosure Defaults. Since the previous
announcement issued April 30, 2009, the Corporation reports that no material
changes have occurred. PetroReal continues to work with its auditors to complete
the audit of the Corporation's financial statements for the year ended December
31, 2008 as soon as possible. The Corporation intends to issue the next default
status report on May 28, 2009 if the year end regulatory documents are not filed
before this date. Until its financial disclosure is filed, the Corporation
intends to continue to satisfy the Alternative Information Guidelines by issuing
bi-weekly Default Status Reports, each of which will be issued in the form of a
press release and also filed on SEDAR.
