Newton Energy Corporation Announces Appointment of Directors

Newton Energy Corporation (the "Company" or "Newton") (TSX VENTURE:NTN)
announces that, subject to regulatory approval, it has appointed Frank L. Stack
to its board of directors. Mr. Stack is President of Belavista Investments Ltd.,
a private investment company. He has over 30 years experience in finance with
Salomon Brothers and Citibank, Vencap and as a partner with Banyan Capital
Partners. He has been a director of numerous private and public companies
including Mark's Work Wearhouse Ltd., Premium Brands Inc., Fletcher's Fine Foods
Ltd., Great Canadian Railtour Company, Prizm Pharmaceuticals, Inc., RaiLink
Ltd., Q'Max Solutions Inc. and Tartan Canada Corporation. Mr. Stack has a B.
Comm. from the University of Alberta and an MBA from Wharton.


The Company is also pleased to announce that, subject to regulatory approval, it
has appointed J. Arthur (Art) Bray to its board of directors. Mr. Bray has over
35 years of financial and senior management experience. He was the Supervisor of
Corporate Finance with Alberta Energy Company and the Director of Corporate
Finance with Petro Canada. Mr. Bray has also served as Vice President Finance,
CFO, CEO and Chairman of the board of various international energy companies.
Mr. Bray has worked internationally in Russia, Kazahkstan, Indonesia, Peru,
Colombia and Myanmar. Mr. Bray has a B.M. (1970), M.M. (1975) and M.B.A. (1984)
from the University of Alberta. 


The Company also announces the resignations of Bruce E. Williams and Rick
Schmitt as directors of the Corporation. The board of directors of the Company
wishes to thank Mssrs. Williams and Schmitt for their support and assistance to
the Company and wish them every success in their future endeavours.
