Appointment of New Independent Director to Circumpacific Energy Corporation Board

Circumpacific Energy Corporation (TSX VENTURE:CER) (Circumpacific) Chairman Jim
McKerlie announced the appointment today of a new non-executive director, Keith
Skipper, to the Circumpacific Board. This appointment ensures that a minimum of
two directors are independent of management and, importantly, independent of
Drillsearch Energy Limited, Circumpacific's major shareholder.


Keith is a seasoned and successful global explorationist, public company
executive and corporate non-executive director with over 35 years of diverse
industry experiences. He holds a B.Sc. (Hons) degree in geology from Reading
University (U.K.) and a M.Sc. (Geology) from McMaster University (Ontario) and
is a registered Professional Geologist with the Association of Professional
Geologists and Geophysicists of Alberta.


Keith has held supervisory, management, executive and board positions with
several TSX and ASX listed public companies and, in addition to his
international expertise, has extensive experience in the Western Canadian
Sedimentary Basin. His early career was formulated with AMOCO, with subsequent
appointments with Bridge Oil Limited in Australia, and then PanCanadian
Petroleum Limited and Antrim Energy Limited in Calgary. He has been a
non-executive Director of Hedong Energy Inc., and a non-executive Director of
Avery Resources Limited. He is presently a non-executive Director of the
publicly listed companies Rawson Resources Limited, and Samson Oil and Gas
Limited.


Keith's memberships include the Australian Institute of Company Directors, the
American Association of Petroleum Geologists, the Association of International
Petroleum Negotiators, and the Canadian Society of Petroleum Geologists. 


Mr McKerlie said "Keith, being a dual citizen of both Canada and Australia and
having worked extensively in both the Canadian and Australian Oil and Gas
markets, is an ideal appointment to the Circumpacific board with it's
geographically spread asset base".


The full board now comprises Jim McKerlie (Chair), Brad Lingo (CEO), Malcolm
Lennox, Chris Carty and Keith Skipper.
